I also knocked up this a temp solution to use a spare rack tail light without a rack. I have ended using it ever since as it worked so well
not nearly as nice looking as the others, but does give you excellent visibility and the light doesnt get knocked when you lock it up

Oh right. Yes. I'm gonna dig through the shed for some thing useful to modify.

Oh I like that a lot, it looks great

What is that mount?

I’m gonna need to make one of these myself. I could probably make a second.
Would be somewhere between the above ones. Flattened one end like Spotter’s since I can’t machine up some fancy countersunk mount but with a brazed light mount at 90 degrees -

Is it possible to mount the vertical rear ones on a mount like this one?

Which vertical ones?
Most rack lights are horizontal, I want to use that fitting place but have the light horizontal so the beam pattern is correct

if you mean like mine? then yes

Well I was asking because I’m about to buy a rear light, and I was wondering which one to get. The horizontal or vertical supernova e3.
I had a hard time finding pictures of alternative mounting solutions of the vertical one. Hence my question.

No counter sink fancyness required.
Mine is two small tube and two bottle cage bosses

Ah but your lower tube to mount it to the frame, the bolt is so flush
-
• #2866
My guess is i could mount it like this on a mount like on the red frame

Oh Yeah. That's true. But I've done this more recently...

I designed this to be made from 20x20x3mm aluminium angle section. Should be quite easy to make with a drill press, a hack saw and a file. I've not got round to making it yet but if anyone wants the cutting guide PM me.

Yeah, you'd think, but the screws are very different sizes - I've never seen the obverse of that seatpost shot, but I couldn't get it to work.

That explains it...

Someone out there was looking for a horizontal mount for a rear light. Looks like a VO strut will work well.

That is very neat!
So is +Eeyorecore 's solution. -

That’s how mine is mounted on my Stayer. Sam made me a small bracket that screws into the rack mount, and is drilled and threaded for the appropriate screw size for the supernova light.
Maybe have a look at a B+M mu as well? I’m actually thinking about replacing the supernova with one, be nice to finally have a standlight.

Sweet! I could probably make that. Will have a look at the mu :-)
I think thats my plan, will look to get some made.
