Just googled Iberital MC2 PCB and got this site - https://www.espressounderground.co.uk/MC2-GRINDER-AUTO-PCB643-PN-IBEG6163-p/ibeg6163.htm
Image has a pretty clear view of the resistor. Can you work out what one it is from this? For £22 delivered I'd be tempted to just grab a new board, but fixing things is rewarding too.

Too slow. I knew I shouldn't have put on pants.
But didn't you post this image already, a few days ago?

My order from YB always ends back at the post office if no-one is in, which is annoying as every other courier either leaves stuff with neighbours or finds somewhere to stash it.
It's ok right now as we are home all the time.

I did, but my quest continues! Another photo of a different version of the same board.
I have this to work out the value, but telling brown from red from orange with all of 7 pixels isn't the easiest.
@Scrabble I've already ordered the part from that site, but it could take weeks as it's a special order item and they have no idea how long it'll take the supplier to ship the part, and I'm on a bit of a fixing rampage to try and kill time at the moment.

Well, now I'm invested in this rabbit hole, and it's not my grinder, I'm gonna say it's red, red, orange with a gold stripe at the end.
This seems to suggest 22 x 1000 = 22k ohms with a 5% tolerance.
Worth a punt if you know you have another board on the way?

Make sure you buy a fat one and not a thin one.
By which I mean that blown resistor looks to have quite a high current rating.
-
• #18109
Measuring the resistor you have would make sense - more procrastinating means it seems a 1W resistor is 9x3.2mm and a 2W is 11.5x4.5mm.

Man, I hope none of my electronics buddies see my post with current rather than power.
-
• #18111
Should have said amperage instead of current rating.

Just get a Robot.
-
• #18113
Resistor measures 15.2 x 4.8mm. So maybe 3w?
-
• #18114
I will try get a pic later on for you, can't do right now.

Cafelat Robot? It'd be an upgrade compared to my Gaggia, but it doesn't fix my grinding issues!

L E G E N D.
I will crack this conundrum.

Sorry!

More googling suggests the sizes a little flexible - which is helpful....
https://www.electricalengineering.xyz/sheet/resistor-power-rating-chart/
Based on this, I'd probably take a punt on 2W.

This handy chart on RS Components makes me think it's 3w
Is there an issue putting a higher power rated resistor in?

Did a long overdue YellowBourbon order after trying some beans from @Vince . Glad I did, will be ordering again and no trouble with the delivery arriving in just a few days.
We have a tiny letterbox so postie just rings the doorbell, I’ve only once had a coffee delivery left on the front doorstep and that was a letterbox friendly HasBean order.

No. It’s just the physical size.

I reckon that’s a current dump resistor going through the diode to protect that switching transistor. We can do a bit of back-calculating to guess the value...
240V, 3W, current = 0.0125A. Using V=IR, Resistance R is 19,200 Ohms
240V, 2W, current = 0.0083. Using V=IR, Resistance R is 28,915 Ohms
Assuming the multiplier stripe looks like it’s either red, brown or orange, it’s probably going to be orange based on those rough numbers. 22k, 3W resistor.
No guarantees given / proceed at your own risk 🤓

Jesus man, top tekkers! Also, it seems that 22k ohms, 3w is common, while 21k ohms at 3w is a lot harder to find.
Gonna go mad and drop £2 on a bag of resistors and see what happens. New PCB already on the way. So worth a punt! -

Don’t worry if it turns out to be a pain in the arse btw. It’d be helpful, but obviously not critical.
Ps, I bloody love this forum!

No worries, will repay some of the bread troubleshooting advice you & others have helped me with.
I've also found this picture of the board online. It's the big blue resistor I'm after - which is annoyingly obscured by the capacitor.
