It's way more expensive to get Force Etap, the cost of the 12 spd Chainset, Chain and Cassette is astronomical. The shifters and mechs are cheaper but the overall package is significantly more.

Agree. Saw a reduced Force Etap shifting set, but by the time I’d factored in a new freehub, chain, cassette and crankset the cost was prohibitive.

anyone know if you can use 10/11 speed chainrings with 12 - I assume not as it’s required a redesigned chain etc -
Probably one of the reasons why eTap 11 is keeping its value, compatibility and ease of plugging into existing 11 speed setup.

I did not know this... 12 speed though - so new freehub?
