Hah! I genuinely did wonder. Of course, wider cups.
I was wondering if it was a tweak to get the spoke lengths the same F32 3x / R40 4x. Which I gathered somewhere was the reason the front & rear flange heights aren’t the same (on non-dished wheels obvs).

Yep I was composing an email asking an authority about it and didn't want to come across as a total bozo! I was thinking similar kinds of complicated things until I read the article a few times. BHC just re-used the rear barrels for drilled axle front barrels :)
Using Spocalc I get very similar length spokes for the F32 3x / R40 4x on the 76mm diameter flanges. That said, the larger flanges make less than 1mm difference on the length, fronts 1.5mm shorter than rear. In my case I could easily use 298mm for both. Thinking about it, that might be why they stopped at just 4mm bigger front flanges - if they had gone to the same diameter as the rears say, spoke lengths are 2.5mm different. I'd need 296mm front. Maybe that's over-thinking it!

This is bad. You've got me researching the frame. Must. Not. Become. Invested.
Zooming in, it looks like a cut-out version of the attached 60s one from velobase. The details of the frame put it 1952-57 though (pretty amazing site http://www.nkilgariff.com/HoldsModelPages/Zephyr.htm). Maybe it was a homemade replacement at some point. Dunno.

For a group ride :)

I reckon you could be right on the badge.
It's too expensive even if the wheels are included, It's too big and it's collection only - Don't become invested 😁 -

Yep, I can resist. I do like the Zephyr but I think if I test s-1 again I think it'll be a mid 50s road bike - got some nice bits needing a frame.

Will need to double check but pretty sure you’re correct with the parts. Yes John Bull lightspeed tyres, not looking too worn so hopefully a bit of life left. Gnutti front wheel (not sure about the rear) and Simplex gears. Stem is AS Gillott.
Pretty sure the seat came from a Dayton Roadmaster frame that came with it. What seat would you suggest to replace it? Calipers also, what would be a fitting replacement? Did think the plastic looked wrong.
Love the socialist trivia re. the red star, think the owner would’ve liked that too!

The Whirlwind from the other guy is a better deal if your size.

I don't think that is an RO harrison. Frame numbers are usually on BB. A number begining with 2 and campagnolo drop outs would indicate a 1962 date. I don't think they were building frames that late. The lugs look familiar but I can't remember I've seeen them before.

Ignore above. 254564 would be Feb 55. Were campag drop outs available then?

Maclean with interesting Simplex gears:

I'm not sure whether that is a maclean as the frame number doesn't seem to be correct
-

This 'Maclean' looks very desirable to me - if I had room for it I wouldn't care too much about the original branding since it is obviously a high quality frame.
The Simplex mech is probably a three speed, but with that long tension arm it could be used with a double chain ring like my 'Cyclo' bike above in this column. This makes for a useable touring bike - a purpose this frame seems well suited to, assuming we're ever able to go touring in the future!

It’s quite a nice 30s frame whatever it is. The paint it’s in is an appropriate colour and it’s in good condition. Consider it’s got what looks like a complete matching clip headset which would set you back £40+ and £50 worth of Simplex bits - it’s pretty good value if it’s your size.

Lovely. If I was a couple of inches taller and had a couple fewer frames hidden in the attic ...

Spending a bit more time on those catalogues, coincidentally @SideshowBob the 1953 Holdsworth has a lot of info about that trike conversion https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/312553139982
I didn't know Constrictor had their own honking rubbers, only seen the Shockstop to date. Another project for @BigBlock :)
N.B. pic from the 1956/57 catalogue.

That's nice, And agree that it's too expensive. I take it that the wheels are not part of the sale? The head badge is interesting (looks like the enamel has gone, or is it hidden under dirt) as it looks similar to known one's but different at the same time
