  • So mine is slightly different.

I was in a non fault accident on my scooter last year (Nov) to be precise. Old woman that cut out into my path basically accepted liability as she said she didnt see me and the insurance company (More than) accepted the liability at there end too. I called my insurance company (Motorcycles direct) who then passed me onto this accident management company (4th dimension) who then came collected the bike like the next week and dealt with my claim.
They were charging £150 to collect and £20 i think a day storage to the insurance company.

So more than came back to them and said were going to give you £806 for the scooter, bearing in mind thats probs book value and the going rate for them now is about £1600 to £2500 for the year or mine as it was the last year they sold it in the UK (Bikes a honda zoomed btw)

There engineer called me and said we think the money they have offered you is low and ive had a look online at sales and agree. Week later I get a cheque thought the post for £806, im like what the fuck is this??? So calls them up and they are like thats the initial settlement that we need to send you but since you've put in a dispute about the valuation you'll get another cheque once we get them to agree on a higher valuation. They won't offer you another cheque for the whole amount thought it'll just be the extra amount.

So i'm like this is fishy and sat on the cheque for a few weeks, I called them twice once my dad was actually present and listening too and they confirmed in conversations on the phone twice that I should cash the cheque as that isn't me accepting the amount that they have given and I will get another.

Then more than basically go were not giving anymore as thats the valuation our engineer has given and says its worth and the only way your going to get more is if you hire a valuation engineer and even then this is out your own pocket and we might not listen to it.

So then after this 4th dimension basically just wash there hands of it and say you'll need to claim your insurance now but if you do your going to have to pay back this £806 (which I have still sitting in a account on my bank). I had a valuation of £2000 on the scooter should it need to be replaced in the event of an accident.

So I opened up a complaint which is passed along and then i dont get a response from them. I email this week (6 weeks they have had) with them coming back saying we emailed you on the 15th of april which i didnt get and we have until the 8th of june to get back to you with your complain before I can go to the ombusman.

Also Motorcycles direct didnt tell me that they are only a broker and my actual insurance is from marker study which I opened a claim with them for them to email me today say that if I do claim I have a £700 excess which will be deducted from what ever I get if I do claim and my premiums will be affected and no claims bonus(6 years) all this for something that wasn't even my fault and have it in writing that the other woman caused the accident.

So apart from im getting fucked right left n centre, is there anything much I can do on this situation or am I gonna just have to take that 4th dimension are lying bastards and that they have fucked me.

Feel free to ask em anything else incase ive missed anything.

  • Firstly speak to citizens advice, as the actions sounds very dodgy. Maybe have a look on mse as they have an insurance forum and probably this has happened before.

The one mistake, which is how it is now, after every phone call should have got the person you spoke to details and emailed them and got them to agree. Spend so much of my vague work time agree every telephone/face to face conversation by email or in writing. Even then it still goes to shit.
