• Use carpet piercing spikes to ground the stands to the boards. They do less harm to the appearance of the carpet than feet do.

  • It's not as good as concrete floors, but it's better than standing on the carpet.

  • Everything is a problem in our imperfect acoustic environments but you might get away with a bit of coupling :)

    Because sound radiates through the floorboards it kind of depends what you have underneath them. Ideally you'd probably absorb all the soundwaves. Since you will have some reflection I think it's likely to overwhelm the effect of coupling. Could be wrong though.
