Thanks mate it's a double I'm after to save me from having to swap the cranks.

Fair, I have the cranks and BB too if nothing comes up

Right lads and lassies I just had a pint and here's the question- will I really benefit from going 6600 and 2*10? Or should I just get some 12-27 9s cassette (is that the biggest I can run on 6500 and 53/39?) and live happy keeping groupset period correct?

I believe you should be able to squeeze in a 30 at the back but I may be wrong. Obviously my vote is for having a 30 at the front #savethetriple

FC-R700 is a good compact option

Thanks for these, didn't know.
Gotta pull my calculator out to do some maths as to whether I get more benefit off compact cranks rather than a big-ish cassette.

I always use this
I think those cranks were released with 7800 as an Ultegra level compact option.

Okay another one for the pros:
As per internet my 6500 RD should accept 12-27 cassette no bother.
Would it take a 11-28? And if so would the SRAM one do? Why? Mucho more available and cheaper. -

I have some 2x10 flight deck stuff going spare. DA front shifter, 105 rear shifter, cant remember what the mechs are. Got chain and cassette in good condition too

I'm about to take some dark great, 172.5mm 6601 cranks off a bike, if you don't mind a bit of heel rub

Change of plans. Keeping bike all original, will put on a 12-27 or 13-28 cassette and should be okay (ish).
Looking for a 2*10 6600 to replace my 6500 2*9 as I'm not that strong (yet(hopefully)).
The least I need is rear derailleur and both shifters. Cassette (big-ish) would be nice too.
I got a complete 2*9 6500 if anyone up for a swap. It's a 53/39 and 11-23 group, braze on fd, in a real nice condition bar the usual lacquer peeling off shifters and some scuff on those replaceable flight deck covers.
