I would add having trust in the process and having patience.
Personally going through a plan to build my base over quite a long term. This has meant all my runs are at 75% of my max HR. There are many days where I am tired and showing little improvement. People either scoff or tell me my plan is no good.
Have stuck with it and showing some good fitness gains.

I listen to podcasts as I run which helps. I think practice, and repetition will be the solution, but was wondering if i had missed anything beyond that.
