I once used Hermes they damaged it, though didn't quibble on the refund. Not a very good courier in general, bit hit and miss from careful delivery to "toss it over the fence" quality.
I had a bike from eBay via Parcelforce, which arrived in one piece.
DPD seems to be a very good courier, always on time and careful when I get any small items from them, but they may be quite £££
You can use sites like parcelmonkey to try to keep costs down.
