Anyone purchased Observation? Opinions?
Played it this w/e and, because it made such an impression, thought I'd look back to see if anybody else had played it. Not obvious from your question whether you were asking because you were contemplating buying it or because you were trying to make up your mind about it after finishing.
The gameplay is - if you like this kind of mystery and puzzle solving game - very well crafted. It isn't an entirely unique idea (The Turing Test did something similar) but I've not seen a game of this kind that does it better. They also paid a lot of attention to game state and the impact of doing things in different sequences; if you were thinking ahead (or just exploring) and solved problems for the crew in advance, they're appreciative but if you're not thinking fast or you're struggling with working out a game mechanic, they get shirty and sometimes find their own solutions.
Bonus points for being about as non-hand-holding as possible, which only adds to the tension. On the other hand, a few too many of the challenges end up being "Copy this from here to there". But if they'd made those as difficult as I'd like on top of everything else, I don't think many people would play the game.
The ending and final reveals are... eh. Bit of a shame, I thought. Not terrible, but didn't meet the promise of the build up. The story telling up to that point was excellent, though, so I enjoyed the journey more than enough not to mind so much about the final destination not living up to the promises of the brochure. But the interwebs are probably full of people saying "What did I just play?"
I can't remember who on here said that they didn't like Talos Principle because it seemed to expect them to do all the work themselves. If you're still on here, don't play this game.
