Agreed, they got the curvature on the SPB051/053 right as well as the handset and the bezel on the 053, always thought it was a winner. I still want an SBDC063 but if a SPB053 came up locally for the right money I'd for sure be tempted.

SBDC063
Well I’m selling my SBDC065 if you don’t mind the dial and bezel colours being the other way round. Could include a black Prospex rubber strap like the one on the 063. Would def do a deal for a forumenger.

Nice one, I'll pass though. I should keep purse strings tight atm too. I'm sure it'll move quick.

Bit sceptical it actually does all it claims but a feat none the less...

Didn’t you have an El Primero... is this a new release?
-
• #44483
Yes but this is new release (actually a revival of an old model) .white dial different fonts basically much better looking

It's another A386 reissue (38mm, date at 4:30 etc) but with a dial based on a prototype they found in the attic - the subdials are three shades of blue instead of grey-black-blue.

Still kinda hard to read though from that pic
Glad they sorted the font on the dials

Whats that ref?
Really like that. You should it.

Im after a 17mm NATO/ZULU strap for my old watch.
18mm is fouling on the lugs and is bothering me.
I suspect my 18mm strap is slightly oversized by enough to foul. Figured 17mm would be right.
Not so many of them about though?
I don't want the big wrap it round twice loop back on itself version just simple thus.

Saw an (I think) Watchfinder video on the Tudor North Flag that was making the point that this was a turning point watch for Tudor, marking their move to the in-house movement, and that with the noise about the Black Bay line, rather passed-over. Is that a reasonable analysis, or is he simply trying to push sales of an under performing line?
-
• #44490
Both, I think. The North Flag is a really nice watch - the integrated bracelet is very well done. I suspect it's simply not retro enough to do well in the current market - mechanical luxury watch tastes are skewed strongly towards heritage / retro / fauxtina. (Although when you get up into superwatch and independent territory I notice you see a lot more unusual and novel designs - think Urwerk, MB&F, Ulysse Nardin, etc.)
Also I suspect if they'd release one without the yellow accents it might do better.

I tried one on and really didn't like it. The dial is too matte / flat. Really underwhelming for the price. Also the way the lugs & integrated bracelet fit on the wrist isn't well thought out.
North Flag definitely looks nicer in pictures than on the wrist IMO.

Interesting, I haven't tried one on the wrist, only held one. My impression was that it looked good but had a certain effect that is probably intended to be sporty but made things look a little "plasticky" - like the black band below the bezel and the yellow accents. But my recollection is that I thought the case and bracelet looked really nice for the money. Especially compared to a Bell & Ross or a Longines or something. Will have to try one on post-lockdown.

Each to their own I guess. I loved the look of it when it launched and was looking forward to trying one out. Just left me cold.

It's been a while so I might be misremembering! I find Tudors quite variable, I thought the BB58 looked really good and the BB GMT looked really cheap.

Same re: the GMT. Finally found one in a shop in Porto last year. Too tall, too heavy, too much money. Shame.

I really really like the North Flag.... in pictures. I’ve tried it on several times and it’s just a bit big and the case really lacks any dynamic in the flesh. Dial is a winner for me as is the power indicator.

Nice. I finally decided on the version I want. Can’t find it anywhere now though.

"Inspired by spacesuits"
That bevelled edge seems to be a carry-over from the SPB051/053 from 2017. That one was zaratsu polished and was a really nice case - I had one - this recent one looks a bit softer to me.
I want to see the bracelet clasp though, that article I posted claims the clasp is machined rather than stamped, which would be a Very Big Deal for Seiko at this price point.
SPB053 case for reference:
