LAD drinking culture at its finest

Yeah the film was nice to see something not focussed on 'sufferfest'.

• #354
Agreed.
And a map

Anyone entered? I resisted until last night but I couldn't find anything that I think will run and that I wanted to do and panic entered.
-
• #356
Haha time heals memories huh
-
• #357
Was thinking about it but I can't imagine it will go ahead or that it will be accessible without travel problems.

"Closing Date Sunday 1st November 2020"
but also
"you will need to get your application to race in before the 30th of October at midnight"
So I missed the boat anyway?

Everyone around me saying "you don't really want to do that again" as I'm trying to remember my answers from last year. I liked maraketch, a good excuse to go back!

Yeah, I'm still in two minds whether it's responsible bringing 200 people through airports for a bike race.
-
• #361
I entered and have a place. Have until 18th to commit. Anyone else here going?

Yeah most I'll most likely be there :)

Let the bike and tyre choice discussion commence !
-
• #365
well, we were gonna get there in the end:
I'm riding on a Bombtrack Hook EXT-C. Several people used this bike last year, however reading a bunch of race reports it seems like everyone on a gravel bike would pick a hardtail if they were to ride AMR again. My hardtail is naaat suitable, so I will have to stick with the Hook. I guess I'd better spend as much time trail running as riding in preparation for this....

At least you can fit pretty wide tyres on the Hook, like 27,5x2,2", right?
Shame it had to be postponed to October, though not that surprising now, didn't really even think of entering because it didn't seem realistic to be able to be there.

Yeah you can squeeze a 2.2 in there, I have scrubbed away some of the paintwork on the chainstays and fork legs though, even with 2.1 – south downs mud is to blame I think, which won't be such an issue in Morocco.
Definitely not surprised it's now October, initially I was disappointed but lately I've been more of the mind that I could really use that extra time to train. I'll be able to do Frontier 300 and hopefully a few more things beforehand now, which will definitely benefit me as I've not done any events of this kind before.

Entries open for Feb 2023.
Anyone tempted? I am. Never been to Morocco and I own a suitable bike now so... why not?

Would love to but prob not gonna happen for me.
I thought as someone who was there it was very well produced. Particularly impressive that 99% of it was the filmed by a single person, and I imagine there was a massive amount of extra distance he was having to cover because significant sections of the route were broken up by undrivable sections.
My girlfriend had heard of places from following the race remotely and thought it could have done with a bit more route description video (I can't think how to describe what I mean in words), so you could see what the colonial road looked like for instance.
