Getting there...

That is very badass. And probably an amazing learning tool. Might make an interesting discussion/presentation at a wannabe watch nerd gathering.

That is amazing! Needs coin for scale. In my mind that spring is 30cm across.

Super cool. What do you do for bearings?

The black thing they're on is a 60cm cube

Hopefully not! I think there will be about an hour of gentle filing to remove some elephants foot on the cog teeth and then maybe a little fettling with clearances once assembled but I hope that the hard part is nearly done.
Thanks for the cleanliness compliment. Has taken me a long time to get my head around ABS. Its easy to print with, as long as you get every setting exactly right! It's not something where "nearly" is enough.

No bearings. It only runs for a minute or two and doesn't have to keep time so some lightly greased 2mm axle rods and M4 button head hex bolts should provide low enough friction .
Once this is done I might see if I can 3d print all the metal parts to see if I can make the model 100% printable. Should just be doable with a few tweaks to the parts.

If this model goes to plan perhaps I might stop being so frightened of this utterly mental design.

Dude. Did you feel like a jigsaw just wasn't challenging enough?
-
• #44462
You'd be surprised how relatively straightforward this is. There's a steep learning curve for the basics but after that it's pretty simple.

Best I can do on my tablet,
Is that poo brown? Hard to tell outside with sunnies on.

on the OG 62MAS thing. I spent aaages lusting after an original one and then I finally got one onto my wrist. Yes visually it's very well balanced but for me the case was a real let down. Pure function over form, the lug design felt wrong and the lack of a crown guard added to the underwhelming case design.
It's a great dial though

I respect it but it looks so plain and boring.

That had happened by mid March.

Doesn't resemble the Black Bay at all when you consider how close watch details can be to one another.
Different hands, sunburst dial, lug shape and length, baton indices.
They already did a pretty much bang on reissue of the 62MAS in 2017.

It's the hard edge between the polished sides and the circular brushed top of the case that makes this such a memorable design for me.
The recent re-issue has a big soft bevelled edge that looks crap. I thought it was an opportunity for Zaratsu flex but no mention of it in the write up.

Love this Oris with no date. Wouldn’t pay this price for a Hodinkee LE though.

They are really something. Would like to try one for size.
I got a new Zuludiver NATO strap for my Seiko, I'm not mad on it, the hardware is all a bit oversized. I've also got a moody Erika on the way from China so that will probably permanently replace it.
