I'd aim for using a more useful metric.
Where's the fun in that? I don't pay for any other platform anymore, so only have Strava.

• #4828
I'd stop paying for Strava too. Complete the set.

So it’s totally meaningless?

Isn't Strava "fitness" it just a mangled version of CTL/ATL/TSB?
(Fitness = CTL, Fatigue = ATL, Form = TSB)

Where do I sign?!

CSB?

Set a goal on a strava segment, achieved the goal but only by 1 second. Goal is not showing as achieved. There is still 6 weeks to go until my self set deadline does it wait until the end to show achieved or is there something else I need to do. I have done the actions refresh thing on the segment.

Anyone using a Garmin 1030 wired up to their Strava? Does it do some magic with Segments? Can you add Segments to it without linking shit up? I seem to remember making a 'segment' out of a TT course a few years ago for a recce on the Garmin 1000, just thinking about doing some KOM hunting around here and want to make shit easy for me.

You need to 'star' the segment for it to sync to your garmin. Garmin will then alert you when you are approaching the segment.
On your strava phone app go explore->segments->find the segment->the star is actually on the map (a little hidden)

Spanks. I've starred some but I think I'll probably leave the Garmin disconnected from Strava for now.

It's about time someone comes along with a better Strava.

Nail in coffin?

Meh, most of the stuff that is going doesn't affect me. Losing the Matched Runs thing is a bit annoying, but I can work around it with a private segment (for the whole run), or just compare stuff in a separate spreadsheet I maintain anyway (since Strava is shit at tracking weight, swims, cycling, TSS, Swim CSS, 5-a-side football, booze, commuting, core workouts, push ups, best 5k/10k/HM/Mara times, VDOT, and providing future planning).
If Strava goes something will take its place. Hopefully something that isn't just based on a possible future of monetising everything.

Wonder what happens if everyone goes on https://www.strava.com/athlete/segments/created and delete the segments they created. 🤔
-
• #4844
My guess is that Strava would, eventually, just recreate them under fake users.

Just came to post http://cyclingtips.com/2020/05/strava-shake-up-major-changes-for-paid-and-free-users/
Just as lockdown got me so bored I started to use Strava again. Lolz

Finding another half-decent route builder is a bit of a project, especially with the veloviewer explorer plugin only supporting the current Strava route builder.

veloviewer explorer plugin
gpxeditor.co.uk is my current one, you can do some reasonable stuff with the free version but I cough up the £20/year to allow me to do some good VV route planning on it. nothing like the VV explorer plugin for Strava though.
I've posted upthread how I convert the unexplored tiles kml file to gpx and upload that so I can make sure my routes visit the unvisited tiles I want to cover. Doesn't have heatmap stuff but that's easily checked elsewhere.
(The developer is also over on yacf and he's responded to some of my queries, removed limits, improved code that hadn't assumed someone would upload a gpx file with thousands of routepoints, etc).

Balls. I generally don't give a toss about Strava, particularly the segments and leaderboards, but the heatmaps are very useful, particularly when plotting routes across places like Austria which don't allow Google Streetview. Still, I doubt that's going to be an issue for the foreseeable Covid19-laden future.
Anywhere else that does heatmaps for cycle use?

Garmin Connect has “popular” routes shown in purple which seem a bit hit and miss.
I’ve not used the strava route builder, sounds like it has some interesting features that I’ll never use (now).

I'm not good enough for KOM/CR's, but I do often target (long flat or long hilly) segments help gauge fitness progression. No leaderboard is ok with me, but will they also be ditching the ability to see your personal performance on a segment over time?
I got a segment KOM about a month ago, someone immediately flagged my ride and all my results disappeared. Have tried to get it back but I guess Strava staff aren’t doing much at the moment :(
