  • Still so, so good (and better pedals)

  • Ta. Just added a Burd Gevenalle rear derailleur as well.

  • Derailleur arrived. Beefy bit of kit.

  • I'm on a 6 year plan to be decent in Vets too.

Since my efforts at being decent in seniors are a waste of time 😂

  • Why the need for that derailleur?

  • You guys know that once you get to vets it’s just the same freaks beating you that always did?!

  • Probably because I bought the marketing hype:

We start with a tough, durable no-nonsense road derailleur that works perfectly well for the road but then set about making it perfect for ‘cross. Derailleur is disassembled and chain tension spring is adjusted to provide 25% more force. This provides a big advantage in keeping the chain planted on your chaining when the course gets rough or mud build up might lift another bikes chain off the chainring. Next we pack the units with good quality grease from the folks at Phil Wood and lastly and most importantly we install quality pulleys.

Pulleys Matter We offer Shimano’s excellent Ultegra level pulleys just as a base point and two more better options – so you have to know we are serious about pulley quality to the overall derailleurs performance! The result is a derailleur dialed for ‘cross.

BURD = Blatantly Upgraded Rebranded Derailleur.

  • Nah - me and Oli are going to be 1-2ing the podium.

  • Fork arrived. It's a lovely thing.

  • Should I also go gold chain?

  • Yes that is a lovely fork!

  • Not tempted to go 1x?

Looking forward to your project since I'm hoping to build another cx bike this summer...

  • I think I will keep this with 2 chainrings at the front for now as I do most of my riding on it and want a little more range. I might go 1x for cross as and when it kicks off again.

What are are you going to build cx wise?

  • I have a carbon canti fork with a tapered steerer and that's about it. So, quite a long way to go.

  • Did you buy the famous fork? I will give you a heads up if I see any interesting frames.

  • Which taper were you thinking?

  • I still don't think anyone knows

  • Got new fork, chainrings and rear mech fitted and didn't have a care in the world

  • Then I went into the back of a car and pringled top tube and down tube

  • @hulsroy or anyone else who might have an opinion - is this fatal or could someone replace the top tube and down tube? I was going to get in touch with Sam

  • Fuck :(

    Hope you are OK.

  • I was fine - just a little winded and grazed. I would have traded injuries for an undamaged bike.

  • Sorry dude. That does look like new front end is needed. Sam is Def the right person to ask.
Also check your forks before deciding to reuse them.

  • Theoretically a new front triangle is possible with the existing rear triangle? All the character of a geek is in the stays and extended seat tube, so I could probably live with that.

  • Oh man sorry to see/hear. Glad you’re ok at least. Maybe a good excuse to go wild with some awesome front triangle steel tubing :)? Gutted for you though, that bike’s up there with the best. T
