  • It's a child substitute...

  • Thanks! Sounds good.

I think I’m going to make a ratchet drip set up or just buy a puck puck

  • Here they are. They’re in nice nick. The top surface has the swirly scratches you would expect from commercial use, they’re not fucked though by any stretch.

They have the base plate for the espresso machine implementation they were intended for (they’re off my Sanremo Opera, they were integrated into the design of the machine to permanently sit in the drip tray and communicate with the pumps by Bluetooth for gravimetric dosing. The plates will be useful as they lift the whole thing off the counter by a couple of mm so if you spill water they’re extra protected.)

They’re missing the charging cables. They’re micro USB, you e probably got a drawer full. They do have the calibration weight.

    £150.00 plus insured carriage.

  • Yeah, go on then. Hook me up :)

You wanna PM me your paypal address or something?

  • Get a mizudashi? It's half the price of a puckpuck.

  • They look great, thanks @StevePeel but I’ll retract my dibs because of the grace of time to reveal I should save my damn money.

Great price though, someone else snap that up! I didn’t know they made “dual” models either.

  • Hmm, immersion instead of the slow drip drip though.

  • No worries. Dual is the Sanremo specific one I think, not sure if it was ever on the civilian market.

  • Coffee nerds. I dropped my Kinto stainless filter in the sink and the little nose cone nubbin has bent in leaving a gap.

Tried it this morning but grounds everywhere. Best way to fix? My initial thought is food safe solder.

  • not sure if it was ever on the civilian market.

Careful now, you’ll wake my inner spender.

  • I'd certainly give solder or brazing a go but you'd need a very powerful soldering iron and pot of flux to get a good joint on that.

  • Also use this for my cold brew needs. Normally leave it for 8 to 12 hours. Been so long since I made it I can't remember the ratio used. Fairly sure I used 32 grams in the 600ml(?) pot.

  • Sounds about right. I think I do about 22g for around 400ml of water. I can always feel the higher caffeine content in these so tend to drop the coffee amount a bit as I tend to just drink it neat with ice in the summer.

  • My Dualit grinder stopped working for no (apparent) reason. I discovered that it was because of the failure of a microswitch that detects when the hopper is located properly. If you take the hopper off the switch opens and the grinder won't run. This is (I assume) a safety feature to stop people being able to easily stick their fingers in moving burrs. I could have found a replacemnt switch (although it might have been tricky finding the exact match) but, since I knew that I wasn't going to ever sell the machine, I just bypassed the switch and the grinder has been running fine for several years in that state. Might be worth a check before getting into anything more complex?

  • ROK turned up at lunch time, Ascaso i-mini was dismantled and cleaned, just waiting for my beans to arrive
(took a punt on Coffee Factory as it was £4 for 250g delivered for first month subscription, no contract, so if it's shit I'll sack it off)

  • Cross Post from vegan thread

Would anyone like a bottle of oat milk? Ordered it for my wife but she can't have it because it contains rapeseed oil. Been unopened in the back of my fridge, use by date 22nd of June.

    Pick up E7.

  • That really looks like a bottle of... Never mind, don't want to ruin your kind offer :D

  • It's just the oil separating, give it a good shake and... erm

  • 😂😂😂😂

Even the nice character on the label looks like he could be called ‘Johnny’

  • For cold coffee i either do cold water in the French press and leave it in the fridge or "Japanese iced pour over" using a v60 (think there's a Hoffman video for it). Wouldn't bother buying a dedicated device for cold coffee unless one or other of the above methods weren't working and even then if you have a v60 or similar you can just dump coffee in a big jam jar and filter it the next day. I do have the mizudashi but it's just because I like to support my local coffee man

  • Drug dealer scales off Amazon arrived today. Fit and finish is no better than you'd expect. However, weighing a random object (which turned out to weigh 81.9g) confirmed that they match my other scales which are 4x the cost Slater / Heston Blumenthal efforts.

    Joy of ownership - low.
    Functionality - high.

  • Looks the same as mine, no complaints so far.
