I just sprained my ankle yet again, this time walking home from the gym. I have bought lots of expensive cheese as a consolation.
Local Saino has a restriction of three "exotic/speciality cheeses" per customer, which mean that I have to do my shopping three times each time I go.

Very pleased with the latest virtual race challenge, managing 12 miles @ 6 secs / mile quicker than the HM a few weeks ago. 5:36/m average to get our team up to 2nd on the leader board. Yay!

That sucks. Recurring injury?
What cheese did you get?

Nice work Phil!

Does anyone use the Garmin course routing and workout at the same time? Is it as simple as creating a workout and starting that and a course at the same time?

Christ that’s quick. Really keen to be able to run those sort of distances with average km times beginning with 3.

Just saw this on Strava - 👍👍👍

Thanks.
I've found these isolation relays really good fun and surprisingly motivational.

Surely different people have different ideas of what constitutes an "exotic" cheese?

2nd time this year, maybe 6th time ever? I iced it most of last night and then ran 13km this morning, quite sore but not horrific, the weather wiped me out more than anything (32 degrees, 170 AQI).
I was looking for buffalo mozzarella for pizza but couldn't find any, not sure if it's an import issue. Eventually found New Zealand mozzarella, then was so pissed off that I also got some Dutch pesto flavoured cheese and some smoked cheese. I fucking love smoked cheese, could eat it alllllll day.

@hats most people would consider that a good run (myself included!).
You ultra people are bonkers!I've been feeling a bit knackered/deflated since the end of this week's shifts.
Partially I suspect as the adrenaline has now gone and no longer running on auto (am moving hospital soon so have a little time away from the wards- and this always brings a sense of deflation). Finally got my act together at 3 to go for a run (I tend to prefer 1st thing, fasted), and just ran a floaty memory lane run around the back parts of Wimbledon Common. There are some truly lovely bits away from all the people.
Wasn't particularly trying to go anywhere, got a little lost, nearly fell over a child, beaming smile the whole time.
Was great. 10/10 would float again. -

My Achilles is really sore after today’s run - hurt for last 4/5km.
Iced it, taken ibuprofen, and got it compressed now. Anything else I should be doing?

If you go up to Waterworks corner, you can pick up a shady underpass with the a406 above, then head uphill and run back over the a406, and down to Hollow Ponds. Best done in winter with the ankle deep mud on the hill of doom, but enjoyable any time of year really.
I ran a bit of it today, don't know if you are in the lfgss run group on Strava, but I imagine it is on there

Bollocks.
My calf has gone again.
I seem to be stuck in a cycle of injury and rehab, where my calf pops when I start to up the pace, but my knees pop when I just plod, so I end up doing monotonous mid-tempo runs.
Sigh.

I went and rode my bike for four hours instead of running today, and I took yesterday off.
I'd better go sub 15 minutes for my lunchtime 5k or it's all been for nothing.

Lovely run report, glad it was enjoyable after feeling so tired and deflated

I got to the end of my easy week today, wanting to do around 10k to keep the numbers up a bit. Set off easy and just slowly ramped up to running comfortably at a decent pace. Hit the half-way point (there's something psychological happens here for me, the whole endeavour feels a lot more achievable) and started to push. Ended up with a 30 seconds (strava) PB of 46:18, at a decent HR. Really pleased with it after starting steady and not having set out for a Big Run.
The 'pacing':

Totally understand this. For me its the first 10 minutes.
From the splits. Looks like you could break 45 with ease, and go a fair bit quicker.
@Tenderloin- Massage, hot/cold cycling in the morning, elevate, very possibly magnesium (debate ad infinitum). Rest it tomorrow.
@TW I'm sorry to hear this. Esp in LD its difficult to suggest other stuff that fills the running void.

Shit the bed. Serious pace!

New club challenge has started.
Run 5 miles and gain as much height as possible. You can’t repeat any hill more than twice, and you can only run 2 miles from your house to the start point. Some people have managed 1650ft/500m+!Tried a route tonight and failed miserably, a measly 900ft. Will have to restrategise.

Do many of you guys take magnesium? I don’t but think I might give it a go.
For people that do/have - are the tablets all pretty similar?
I got one of these for my dad one year for Christmas, he loves it
