Nice haul. Got some of those. Need to order Dirty Games for sure.
I discovered this yesterday and it really pissed me off as it's essentially breaking the way I do digital. I knew I should just stick to vinyl!

That new Harmony thing has reminded me of this. I remember I used to spend hours and hours trawling eBay and websites like ClassicTrax, HTRF, Intense, SoundBytes, RedEye, Chemical to discover records, while also posting on DOA, RDB and HWND. This one escaped me on eBay and I was so gutted at the time, as I'd never heard anything about it before and it seemed like it might never come up again, but it did and I made sure I got it the second time. Probably used auction sniper, and will go to hell for that.

Only just seen this and it's sold out. Guess my bank account will be happy about this even if I'm not.

Another one of those tunes that seems to fly under the radar but I absolutely love. There’s loads of good stuff that Rap did, but this probably my favourite. The kick drum and snare of that wicked ‘kid n play’ break seem to have been chopped up into reverse, making it off kilter and oddly funky. Need to think about it a bit more when mixing, but the trumpet-style riff and warped bassline are pure jungle. Can’t believe it’s only a few quid.

I'm putting the kids to bed ATM. Looking forward to giving this a listen later. I don't recognise the intro from my blue note set collection. Is that Cleveland Watkiss MCing?
-
• #310
no, not Cleveland Watkiss, Justyce.
It goes a bit crackly at 27 minutes. I hope it sorts itself out soon

Been obsessing about the Kid N Play break and trying to discover new examples. Favourite so far.

Feeling like hawking one of my mixes.
Some of my absolute favourites in here and a lot of stuff that is just archetypal jungle sound, particularly towards the end - Lighter, Limb by Limb, His Imperial Majesty, What the time Dread. Basslines for days.

If you liked that one, may as well plug another :)
I must have recorded this in 2005 or 2006. There was a competition being run for a set at Mass in Brixton. I think I did in fact earn a slot, or was at least on the shortlist, but it was a moot point as the event got canned before it happened. Anyway, more jump up flavours....
I especially love 'Basic Rules'. Took me a long time to track that one down. Nice, wafty, steppy vibes.
Points for guessing the film samples at the start and finish.

Wicked. Love a bit of Amen Andrews. On a related note, had this stuck in my head all day yesterday.

Yeah, I'm more into the acid than the d&b but saw the name, marked it for looking into and then thought I'd share it here.

Stumbled across this obscure thing yesterday and quickly snapped it up. Surprised it isn’t sold out already.
Never heard of the tune before, but I love the artist.
*Well known for their back-in-the-day classic "Darker Side of Evil", "Spice" is a bad slice of 94 jungle with choppy timestretched breaks and classic "Dune" samples. Originally lost to the ages (no DATS exist), a dubplate was discovered in 2012 in a hole in a wall behind a kitchen sink, where it had sat out of its sleeve on top of a pile of other dubs for 18 years. Because of those conditions, the plate was in terrible shape, crackly to the point of being unsalvageable. Despite this fact, the tune itself was a personal favorite at the time (posted on blog to the oldskool), and was something I'd hoped to release if a better quality copy ever turned up.
Fast forward to 2016: A second copy of "Spice" did show up, this time stashed in someone's china cabinet (“wrong type of ‘plate’...”). This copy was in much better shape, almost unplayed. Both dubs were shipped to a UK specialist who spent time restoring them, before sending them to another specialist to continue the work. In the end, the difference is like night and day: "Spice" sounds dynamic and fresh, with nary a click, crackle or pop. On the flip, "Ruffneck Murderer" is almost as clean - a rude little number with warp bass, toasting and "Goodfellas" samples.
After all this time, and all the work from multiple restoration specialists, we're proud to finally bring you these two long lost Mega City 2 tunes.*

Hopefully some of the back catalogue gets repressed, although sucks the DATs are gone.
Got two weeks of posts in here to catch up on, but for now here's some of the represses I've just had to shell out for
