  • Haha appreciate the sentiment but it's not so much about not having the cash, and more about not wanting to spend anymore because I feel like I need to draw a line at some point.

I'll call bmr on Monday and see what they say.

Realistically I'm too financially invested to sell it any time soon so if it goes belly up again I'll try and limp it to Ireland and park it somewhere til I've the time and space to work on it myself.

  • And buy a honda jazz

  • not wanting to spend anymore because I feel like I need to draw a line at some point.

    Neil rn

  • My comment nudged me in to the GC thread, you're enjoying your car (truck!).. Chicken dinner!

  • A bugger of a situation.. Your car is in that awkward place of being too good to be a snotter, and slightly too old to unquestioningly pay the repair bill.

  • Haha i think for me the difference is that Neil's is a proper sports car worth spending money on to get better than original, whereas mine is a 2.5 litre bmw estate

  • In a similar vein to the shooting brake looks of that Jag, I saw this mint condition 1979 Lotus Elite today.

  • Did you pay by credit card?

    Small claims court?

Did you get what they said in writing/email? Making the point that they inspected it and missed the problem or mentining it.

  • Still want an MX5 na some day

  • Paid by credit card. Have reported to trading standards. They have put nothing in writing or email.

  • In that case why not get the confirmation in an email? That they won't warranty the work due to their failure to complete the job.

Then look up charge back for the inspection, and the work.

  • Watched the newer one: https://youtu.be/Y4qewQkYTTs

Mechanic refuses to charge him for an engine rebuild because it didn't fix the problem.

    Oh the irony...

  • I echo the sentiments of the rest on here. It's a shit situation and puts the rep of ML in serious doubt. Whenever you read a piece in one of the rags about older used BM's then they always shout about how good they are. Bizarre.

Anyway, I think you've reached the same conclusion. It's soured the ownership somewhat but I'd stick with it and see if you can get past this teething stage and get to a point where it actually serves you well. It's a great looking bus.

  • Ohh, that's good too

  • Rode past this the other day

  • Maybe time to contact the rags, or do Munich pay for lots of adverts?

  • 2.5m views of this thread!

  • Unique views?

Looks like it is not unique to the point someone started a business because of Munich Legends poor service.

  • As others say, ok f maybe it's a genuine "never seen that before", but when you have worked out what the issue is, and then insist that you'll never look for that issue again, that's mental.
Surely any mechanic would take what they have learned and use that info in the future, not ignore it, because reasons.
Anyway, yes seen and have a German car where the electrics are all in a not particularly well made plastic tub right under the scuttle panel, and yes had many gremlins because of corrosion in the fuse box and in the ecu tray. Does it not rain in Germany?

  • No pictures but today's pootle through London revealed
an old Lancia, most probably a Flaminia Coupe in Chelsea,
a Maserati Biturbo 222E, in Candem,
    and either two Renault Avantimes,
    or,
even more improbably the same Renault Avantime twice.
If the latter somewhere a bowl of Petunias is thinking, 'Oh no, not again?'

  • Picked up some weathershields for the XV, got them for less than half the price Subaru wanted for them... Result... I think they'll add a little extra something, easy to fit according to the YouTubes... We'll see about that...

  • looking at a second hand van, not history flags up gear box mount is defective, should i walk away? presumably some mounts being defective could be a sign of the engine/ whole van rattling and running like shit. thanks

  • Depends, I'd go and have a look and see it the mount had been replace and if any others had or the condition.

  • real bummer mate. sorry to hear it. I'd probably keep chucking money at it tbh

  • pretty bummed out for you dude reading about this stuff. really hard to see a good way through this. but hope you have a good call tomorrow and get the bimmer back on track. I hope if you can push through with sorting this then the car will pay you back.

it did already do you the favour of stopping you move to Banbury so in some ways it is looking out for you!
