  • Let me know if it's a 56. Not that I can justify it at the moment, but maybe I could. Always quite fancied one of them in 650b flavor.

  • I’ve got half of an 853 frame...

More like three quarters I'd say

  • True. Though the remnants of front triangle tubes will probably need to be chopped

  • I did think as much too Phil. If you do and don't need the down tube please could I have back it for a leverage bar?

  • I’m not sure a 0.4mm thick tube would be much use as a breaker bar but yeah sure :)

  • Ha. Yeah I think that would noodle trying to undo a bottle cage bolt!

  • Right you are, aha didn't think that through

  • whats the clearance like? My 2011 one barely cleared 47c on the rear

  • Been thinking about racks for my CDF for commuting/touring for ages. Found a tortec expedition rear rack for £27 new so ordered that. Thinking about the minoura gamoh porteur front rack for £50 on ebay but then I'd need £100 for a decent bag

  • Am a size down, soz.

Also took it out to tweak the shifting a bit today and have kicked myself for thinking about getting rid after spending so long building it up and putting on the effing vinyl wrap!

  • Gaming is big and heavy, rather spend out for a surly nice or scrimp on a pizza rack, least then you can run pannier / basket / top bag

  • Gen 1 Equilibrium disc

  • Cheers @r.hobbs
Quite impressed with this tortec rack upon first impression. Quite light, cheap, takes up to 35kg and can whip it off really easily. First few months back commuting I'll try that then maybe look for a decent front rack

  • Always loved these.

  • The best equilibriums they have ever done.

  • You think? It's a little on the heavy side, but it's a lovely ride. Not sure how much is the frame or the 28mm GP5000 as I've not used them before

  • The ride quality of steel is worth the weight penalty imo.

the 853 rim brakes version was also sick!

  • Yeah that's fab. I had an 853 Volare for abit and that was incredible.

I don't plan on smashing every KOM in London so I agree, worth the weight.

  • Rebuilding my 853 Fugio after some modifications and a questionable repaint

  • Really miss my 853 equilibrium, one of the best frames I have ever owned, rode so nice.

  • What did you change on it Phil?

  • In a couple of stages: mudguard mounts, changed the seatstay bridge for one a little higher and with fender mount, added chainstay bridge, rerouted gear cable stops to the downtube and chainstay rather than along the top, added seatpost binder and drilled it for internal dynamo wiring. Just little bits that make it more practical for me for winter commuting (despite it currently coming into summer)

  • And made the steel stem

  • Love the stem ... would like one

  • Very cool. I particularly like the seatpost binder and stem combo
