I've had velox tape in some wheels for at least 5 years. It works just fine. Wheels have gotten plenty wet.

As a side note, the bead stretch making them nice and easy to fit on is one reason I prefer to buy lightly used tyres.

Velox is perfectly fine but IME doesn't always play well with tubeless rims, even with a tube.
-

In my experience Velox will wiggle and shift around if it's not the exact width needed for the rim. I've been bitten a few times. It seems to be less a problem with higher volume/less inflated tyres.

I bought a pair of Michelin Pro4 Endurance V2 when they were £50 a pair on chain reaction. First impressions are good, they feel pretty fast. Time will tell how puncture resistant they are.

Also disappointed with Velox cloth... Switched to tubeless tape.

i'm gonna get impaled but velox with thin tubes and fast tyres is the next best thing after tubeless. if you have problems it means it's not been installed properly

I've had some wheels that have spent 4.99 of the last 5 years under my bed.
5 years ago I would've said Velox. Now, I say, fuck Velox. I'm done with cloth tape. It moves too much and it sinks into valve holes enough to cause issues. I'm running Tesa tape now.

I raced the last TCR with them. No flats. I raced Transiberica with them and got unlucky with a high speed rock hit that was hard enough to dent the rim and managed to cut the tyre sidewall in two places so can't blame that on the tyre. I like them.

If by impaled you mean I come along and say "bullshit" then consider yourself impaled.
I've run Velox for the last 20+ years and swore by the stuff. Unfortunately for me, much of that time was spent in nice, warm, dry Australia where cloth tape seemed just fine and dandy.
Move over here and all hell breaks loose. Actually not quite true. I don't think I had issues with cloth tape until fairly recently in the UK, which makes me think the issue isn't the wet weather, but the trend to larger rims, larger tyres and tubes and lower pressures. Running 23s at 110psi kept the rim tape in place. Maybe 28s at 70psi just doesn't.Anyway. I've used the last of my Velox and won't be buying more unless I'm caught short.

Anyway. I've used the last of my Velox and won't be buying more unless I'm caught short.
It's amazing the creative solutions brought about by the toilet paper crisis

As if I'd bother using toilet paper in lockdown.

You mentioned this further back in the thread which clinched it for me! Thanks for the review.

Anyobody has suggestions for a good tanwall tubeless tyre in 700x30c? Something like Schwalbe G-One Speed but with tanwalls.

my jack brown mile munchers arrived (30mm, brown wall), and i've taken them for a couple of spins
they look great, if nothing else (they seem about the same width as my michelin pro4 endurances, and they feel just as "nice")

Keep us posted on them, I'm pretty happy with the Rolly Polys I got for £13 a pop a while back (after about 1000 miles the rear started to noticeably wear and puncture more), but would be interested in puncture resistance and feel of something a little wider.

Nice one, thanks.

Should add that it wasn't Velox in the end, was Schwalbe tape. No exploding tubes after the initial ride so all good so far.
I want some new tyres. The Vittoria Corsa G2.0...as good as the OG version?

Looking for a gumwall Erto 305 16 x 1.75” for my bob trailer as I’m a pretentious wanker and want to match my compass tyres.

I found rotating them every 2000ks was the way forward. Rear always wears faster.
Harder for you with different sizes front and rear. -

Anyone had any experience with these?
