I've run Velox for the last 20+ years and swore by the stuff. Unfortunately for me, much of that time was spent in nice, warm, dry Australia where cloth tape seemed just fine and dandy.
Move over here and all hell breaks loose. Actually not quite true. I don't think I had issues with cloth tape until fairly recently in the UK, which makes me think the issue isn't the wet weather, but the trend to larger rims, larger tyres and tubes and lower pressures. Running 23s at 110psi kept the rim tape in place. Maybe 28s at 70psi just doesn't.
Anyway. I've used the last of my Velox and won't be buying more unless I'm caught short.
