  • Fair enough. My Omega is pretty easy to set the date so I can manage without, I think.

  • Swiss watch brands are filing for bankruptcy....

"While the world’s biggest watchmaking businesses have more than enough cash to survive, Mr Müller thinks that there will be a large number of casualties. “Between 30 and 60 ‘Swiss Made’ watch brands – of a total 350 – will not survive,” he tells Swissinfo.

“By my count, a dozen watchmaking companies have already filed for bankruptcy since the beginning of the crisis.”"

  • I reckon you’ll be fine :-)

  • Hold tight Squale. :(

  • so you don’t have to sit there for however long it takes to set the watch up again.

Expect when a month with less than 31 days finishes...

  • So, I have a purchase incoming :eyes: so definitely need to move this on.

Seiko SBDC065 (aka SPB083) - “Great Blue Hole” edition of the Prospex 200m “baby Marinemaster” diver, box & papers, includes the unworn blue rubber strap as well as the spare bracelet links.

6R15 movement, runs +4 to +6 seconds / day. DM for more pics etc. RRP is in the region of £1050, I’m looking for £750 ono.

Ditto, I wanna get more Squale after my 1521, like the sub 39 one that sold out sadly (TGV one is a bit naff).

  • Would anyone care to explain the need for a winder please. If you don’t use one has it a detrimental affect on an automatic?

I don't think there's any need for one, I just want one as I CBA to wind and set a watch before putting it on.

  • Makes sense.

  • That would defeat the purpose of the perpetual calendar, wouldn’t it?
It’s supposed to take into account different lengths of months as well as the leap years.

  • But u haz a Tin TIn? :oP

  • Any product bearing the 'initials' of a YouTuber is naff.

  • Swiss watches are a bit naff!

  • Watcha mean for the uninitiated?

  • Well, Ed is talking about this guy: https://www.youtube.com/user/theurbangentry
And some watches have been released with 'TGV' on the dial which is just so naff.

  • Ha!

Agreed especially in this instance... He's a knob (personally I feel) ... Really Annoying.

  • His TGV watches remain unsold (only 100), compare to the original limited edition which sold out quickly in 2019.

His YouTube channel is inaccessible anyway.

  • Wearing this for the next week. You can't do much better for the £45 I paid for it 5 years ago.

The perpetual calendar is a good thing, but buying a winder so that you don't have to adjust the date & time when you want to wear it, to then have to adjust it anyway because of a shorter month (and time gains/losses since last set) is going to be annoying. I'd rather have the money in my pocket for another watch tbh.

  • A lot of perpetual calendars can’t be set backwards, only forwards. And they often don’t quick set. So setting one is an enormous PITA (there’s a Hodinkee review where Stephen Pulvirent had to spend the best part of a week advancing a perpetual calendar). You don’t want it running down or stopping if you can help it.

Something with a quickset date is not that much of a chore. No date at all and it’s the work of a few seconds to set.
