Love this! Like you, I used to lust after one of these, but I was a poor student at the time and could never afford one.

It's so hard to find decent 26" wheels now. Anyone got a line on some?

Just bought this nice Technium.
I'm kinda impressed about its good condition (from 1990 I think, my birth year :) )
I'm gonna change it into an urban single speed, any advice on the hub/chain I should pick?

I only knew them from Mountain Bike Action magazine, don't think they were even for sale here in Belgium. :-)

Dug this up:
Installed it:
Paired it with a DX rear mech:
Nothing can beat this in my book. Crisp and quick shifting.

Nice. Friction is awesome.

That's very nice. My advice, which you're obviously free to ignore, would be not to singlespeed it, and have some sweet friction shifting action front and rear...but up to you.

Whoa! Can we get a detail shot of those cranks? I'd been thinking of polishing up some M7100/M8100s but have never seen a photo of anyone having done it.

A DeKerf with a Cannondale fork? That is odd.

Had to use something. It seems to work well to be honest and I can't be arsed to shift through the net trying to find an original.
Not sure how I'll be building this. I've gone through a fair few builds with old MTB frames, so not really looking to go all out.Maybe some purple stuff and old XTR.

I have these xt thumbies on my 1989 Stumpjumper but need to finish it. When I started mountainbiking (1991), shimano already replaced these by the push/push shifters so never experienced these.

That seems like a nice way to ride however that's gonna be my daily bike for work so I might prefer to keep it simple, I appreciate the easiness of single speed.

One of my best friends needed a bike, we got him this beautiful Miyata. Aluminium front triangle, CrMo rear, joint by a bolt up top and somehow glued at the bottom part. Masterpiece of a bike.
The cockpit is upgraded, rest (bar tyres, bottle cage, locks etc) are original. 700CX STIs are fantastic, and they were a perfect match for this very machine.

ive just got a corratec, cross/touring thing, building it up as my lockup bike. The multicoloured crossbow ones are wild but again, people seem to be asking silly money now they are a 'classic'
It's a good time for tanwalls. We have so many options these days. I have a bit more clearance on this bike, so thinking of going a bit bigger.
