Went to Shimano training as well, but there doesn't seem to be much development on that side.
Bosch is more interesting. They're a bit hush on the development side, but from the workable models on the table, they're bringing ABS to the table.
Early R&D with proven product is short travel electronically adjustable suspension for weight bias on cargo bikes.
They've also stated implementing security into their bikes, with remote lockout for motors in case the bikes get stolen. This was in combination with live tracking.
The ABS actually worked just as well as on my motorbike when I tried it. Full on braking on gravel with nay a slip from the front wheel. Assembly was a bit bulky, but really impressive to use.
The new motors by Bosch are just silly powerful without being overpowering. They've nailed the software on how it transmits power. Specific models for specific bikes.
