I got to try the City Scrambler. It's quite zippy/stable.

• #156
what's the bike at the back?
-
• #157
I'm interested to know what are you using on the Brompton ?
-
• #158
Bike Friday 'Haul-a-Day' w/ electric hub motor conversion (leafmotor kit).
I have a ebikes.ca kit on the Brompton (don't have updated photo yet but it's a slim front hub motor). Kind of heavy with another extra 5 kg of battery up front. On lookout for a X 2/6R to try mounting battery to rear.
Another possibility is just getting a lighter battery. 20ah is maybe more than I need hereabouts.

Vado SL is interesting, 15kg, £2.5k, if the rear rack didnt look so flimsy I'd be keen. Plus the battery is expensive to replace.

You're really going out of your way on the dadbike rampage aren't you?
-
• #161
I already have a dad bike in Bullitt! Although aggressively looking at R&M Multicharger .. my next year C2W bike will be electric.
-
• #162
Yeah I'd hold out. Even in my mainsteam non nouveau Dulwich bike circles, there's word that distributors are very aggressively acquiring (a lot) stock for post lockdown Covid mobility for the new, post car, woke families of suburbia.
Also recently came back from a Bosch training day. They're about to do very cool shit with Magura and Fox.

• #163
pls tell me more, I am mainly looking at Bosch with Shimano on the side, also Bafang but thats for the cargo bike
-
• #164
Went to Shimano training as well, but there doesn't seem to be much development on that side.
Bosch is more interesting. They're a bit hush on the development side, but from the workable models on the table, they're bringing ABS to the table.
Early R&D with proven product is short travel electronically adjustable suspension for weight bias on cargo bikes.
They've also stated implementing security into their bikes, with remote lockout for motors in case the bikes get stolen. This was in combination with live tracking. The ABS actually worked just as well as on my motorbike when I tried it. Full on braking on gravel with nay a slip from the front wheel. Assembly was a bit bulky, but really impressive to use.
The new motors by Bosch are just silly powerful without being overpowering. They've nailed the software on how it transmits power. Specific models for specific bikes.

What's the current hybrid ebike of choice for just shy of 2k?
For a 16km each way commute, so rack and fenders.
-
• #166
There are couple but depends on for what purpose tbh:
-
• #167
Cheers. Those both seem very fashionable and the second one quite hipster. Are they actually good? Not quite what I had in mind, the 2nd anyway. More just a big standard hybrid.
Purpose is a 16km south to central london commute. By a normal person. Not a lycra warrior!

get canyon to send you pathlite on !

• #170
it's for my neighbour. If anyone is getting a free e bike it is me, not him!

• #171
ha! I like this for the price:

and I REALLY like this:
But a little pricey (racks though)

• #173
My partner has one of these and thinks it is fantastic. Ultra reliable, fantastic battery life. Something like 80kms plus on on charge.
Unlike a lot of electric bikes it is a reasonable bike in its own right. Rather than a mediocre bike with a power pack fitted on as an afterthought.

Yeah I saw that.
My neighbour was recommended this by bike shop and to be fari seems good for cost.
https://formebikes.co.uk/peak-trail-2e-2020.htmlThe alternative I saw was raleigh with bosch avtive line + and 500wh, but that's 2200.

Thansk. I saw that motor on a raleigh for similar price. So good to know it's good.
no but I want to
