I'm all for niche, I really liked that 650b Speedvagen with Zipps, mudguards, 3 cages and road geo for example. I also consider Rob English to be one of the very best in the business, and understand people do not go to him for the same reasons they would go to Chris Bishop or Dave Kirk.
What I particularly do not like here is the paint job that is screaming for attention yet fails spectacularly. -

If the person who commissioned the bike likes it, then the paint job has succeeded spectacularly. It's their bike. If they like it, then the world is a better place for it being here because it will make them happy.

I don't agree with what it stands for
How do you know what it stands for without interviewing the owner?

IMO it looks a bit better in 3/4 view. Still not entirely convinced by the paint job - the rear triangle looks like it's come from another bike - but it fits with the classic British lightweights tradition of somewhat lairy paintjobs.

I can't think why you would say thatπ

If you have a loud custom paint job I would imagine you expect some form of recognition from your peers, it's human nature.

Hah, you obviously haven't seen some of my bikes! I like 'em. Many others don't. That's fine by me.

I was wondering that. It could be a heartfelt homage to the senseless waste of life when his grandfather was killed piloting a P51D during WW2. It could be a touching reference to the Mustang Airfix model his father gave him for his birthday before his father's untimely death. Could be lots of things. At least it's not boring.

Because all things mean everything to all people.
Is this another internet argument about who is entitled to be disgusted, offended or amused?
From where Iβm standing, itβs either a poorly observed pastiche, a fetishised expression of militaria or a sincerely assembled rolling memorial to armed conflict or itβs participants. Either way itβs fugly and distasteful.

But can we agree that Wiggo's roundel is awesome?

Iβm gonna throw my theory in that heβs just a Bad Moon Space Ork collector.

OK, we'll just have to agree to agree about that.

The creatively placed black and white stripes almost saved this

I don't know, I can't really hate it. I mean it's not good-looking but I'd still ride it. What am I missing?

It would be less annoying if the stripes lined up

Not entirely sure but a CAAD to me always was the successor of the old Saecos of the cipollini era (caad 3to 6 id say)
And this looks like something in between a gravel bike, a touring bike and a road bike for elderly people (but with low seat stay joints and an integrated seat post clamp, because thats just what you do these days)
And those horrible stripes make it even worse
And all that despite the all black parts, which usually has the potential to save almost every build from looking entirely shite
Like the base color tho (for a touring bike)

The one thing I don't like, everything else looks fine really. Nothing super special either way.

Old seat cluster:
New seat Cluster:
I just find the new CAAD boring in general. I liked that it kept the classic horizontal top tube geo while still looking like a modern bike. The new paint schemes seem half arsed too.

Aha. Enjoy :

I don't think it does. It seems to make sense but I thought they were stiffer because of the awful lattice thing not the material.
