Are you saying the German shop is legally obliged to cover an intermediary's (Paypal's) FX margin on both conversions here? Rather than e.g. Paypal doing so? I have to say I don't believe you.

• #102203
No, as mentioned above I'd overlooked the fact the price was in Euros.

About 7% in the space of 72 hrs!
My frustration is the 'salt in the wounds' of them cancelling ("sorry, we priced it wrongly" - wasn't an obvious 42.50 rather than £425 just about 10-15% better than UK price) on me because of their error and then the disappointment of losing £25 on top.Get that I'll have to suck it up - no issue (honest)

I have to send an item back to Switzerland for a warranty claim. The company have said this in the email containing return postage instructions:
Don’t forget to declare the content of your shipment with the green
stick-on customs label obtainable in any European post office. When declaring your shipment: Always select the "sample" option
Declaration of value: under 18€ / 15£They also recommened using a tracked/insured shipping method. The item is worth £250.
I thought it wasn't possible to insure an item for a value higher than the declared value on a customs form?

You should indicate in the documents that you're returning it under warranty.

Question, I have about 200 bottle caps in a drawer. What can I do with them other than throw them away?

Make a somewhat dangerous bead curtain.
Learn to flick them using thumb and forefinger.
Mosaic.
Combine them with epoxy for a rad countertop or floor.

I believe this is something already discussed but I can't manage to find results (might not arrange the words as I should), for those riding both fixed and single speed, do you use the exact same gearing between both? Or is there a recommendation to go up/down when switching from one to the other?

If I were to engage in such a perversion, I'd go lower on the freewheel, because I can stop pedalling down hill

If a company enters voluntary liquidation, can it legitimately accept orders via its website after that date?
-
• #102217
No.
Liquidation will stop the company doing business and employing people. It will be removed (‘struck off’) from the register at Companies House, which means it ceases to exist.
If they've taken your money and their bank hasn't bounced it back to you, your credit card company would probably have to contact the administrators.

Placed an order at flareclothingco.com on Sunday April 19th. There was apparently a sale on. Stripe receipt was in the name "RGMM Ltd". Order confirmation said my order was being processed...

https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/11929645/filing-historyBoth show voluntary liquidation dated April 17th based on a statement of affairs dated April 14th, though it's shown as almost 3 weeks later on those filing histories.
They haven't closed down the online shop but the email addresses are all dead.
Submitted a dispute to my CC.

Is there a 'vintage jerseys' or a 'show us your jersey' or similar thread around these parts?
My searching is only bringing up classifieds threads, or am I being shit at searching? I figure there must be one right? Anyone?
-
• #102220
Pretty sure there isn't one. Keep meaning to start one. You do it and I will contribute.
-
• #102221
I don't recall seeing one, but can't believe that for well over a decade of this forum there's hasn't been one.
I'll wait a bit to see if any elders or savvy search maestros can pinpoint one, and if not get one going.
Just had a look at all the forum headings, and cycle clothing only gets mentioned under classifieds. Wouldn't a cycling clothing and clobber forum be a good idea for all our not-for-sale cycling threads threads?

Well there is Stylish cycling kit but it has a narrow focus. No vintage. Basically:

Unless you're BC innit... ;)
Good point. I suppose if the thing was priced in Euros, then you either have to pay in Euros from a Euro-demoniated account or bear the costs of converting your chosen currency into Euros and back again. The difference seems a lot though, even taking account of PayPal's less than competitive exchange rates.
