Saunaan tai saunan taakse...
Regarding the economy, surely no Finnish politician or official has said we need to relax measures in order to save capitalism?

Not in so many words no, no one one is that stupid. Instead they(companies) want stimulus packages.
Keskuskauppakamarin kyselyn mukaan kriisi on koetellut yrityskenttää rajusti. Kolmella neljästä yrityksestä kriisi on jo supistanut liikevaihtoa. Lähes 90 prosenttia yrityksistä odottaa tilanteen jatkuvan vaikeana.
Noin 60 prosenttia yrityksistä aikoo kyselyn perusteella lomauttaa tai vähentää työntekijöitä tulevina kuukausina.
Strategiassa ehdotetaan lisäpanostuksia yritysten auttamiseksi: järjestön mukaan valtion pitäisi ottaa vastuulleen väliaikaisesti yritysten työeläke-, sairaus- ja työttömyysvakuutusmaksut. Tukitoimen hinnaksi arvioidaan noin miljardi euroa kuukaudessa.
Lisäksi Keskuskauppakamari ehdottaa suoraa tukea hallituksen päätöksistä kärsineille yrityksille, joita ovat esimerkiksi messu- ja tapahtumajärjestäjät. Heille strategiassa ehdotetaan 500 miljoonan euron tukisummaa.

I didn't read any further. I just assume if you're logging into Facebook you've made more :P

I finally got a comment removed for being against community standards when I remarked the men on my Facebook were the biggest offenders for posting idiotic covid stuff. Dunno if automatic, or if a very snowflakey person on that small group reported it.
I'd call that an achievement unlocked personally, let's see if they will zap half of conservative home / ukip / daily mail comments and so on as well ;)

Exactly. Everyone facing the same direction means no eye contact, makes it much more bearable.
I’m blushing.

Likewise, how on earth have Japan only had 633 deaths? As I understand, they didn't even implement as broad a lockdown as the UK, and they have only had 1,725 tests per million (versus 29,566 per million in the UK).
Been wondering about this the same as SARS. My (Japanese) wife says its Yakult.

I'm a bit slow. I automatically assumed those mass gathering protest flyers were satirical.

Even one organised for my wee village. WTF

I do enjoy the irony of most people joining in with the anti Bill Gates stuff will be doing so from Microsoft software with absolutely zero awareness.

Has there been any 'positive' news lately?
Feel like there is no end in sight, vaccine seems increasingly unlikely, herd immunity uncertain etc..
Is this life now?

Even one organised for my wee village. WTF
It makes my blood boil.
For all those that will be infected and affected by this morons.Presumably those planning to attend will all be hanging out of their windows clapping tomorrow evening....

Hey Alanis. Maybe they like animated paper clips but not vaccines, or nuanced world views, do you think?
:)

It could well be just a handful or weirdos. I think at this point you sadly just have to let idiots congregate (and some of them maybe die).
Regardless of the ethical issues of allowing or breaking up a protest, it’s just not worth the consequences or resource of closing it down. If they’re ignored, they’ll probably get bored quickly.

Yeah, I'm just interested to see the national organisation. It feels related to the idiotic protests in the US.
-
• #12642
they're not protests, they're tantrums.

• #12643
Could someone be bothered to explain, briefly if you will, the thought process that goes on behind arranging those mass gatherings and in general going against the recommendations by the government?
In the US I've heard the "lockdown and preventive measures are un-constitutional" argument as well, does this apply to the UK also?

I would say its the same group as the earth is flat and jesus will cure us. Not a itu ward and 24 hr care.

there’s a Reddit thread that may be in r/LeopardsAteMyFace about the psychology of ‘toxic hyper-individualism’ that is an interesting take on this.

From those cleverer than me
British scientists have built a calculator that can predict a person’s risk of dying from coronavirus

The news just said that spain had done a large antibody test on their population. Think around 60k random tests and found only 5% with antibodies.
Thats not great news considering the amount of deaths they have had ;/
Hopefully this data (or the representation by the news) Is missing some info that makes it look worse that it actually is.

They fear nags in production? WTF are they letting horses play any part in the production process? Crazy damned Finns.

there's mention of it in the guardian's ticker. 5% nationally but more than 10% in Madrid.
also spotted that UK government has approved an antibody test and is negotiating to buy millions of them so I guess we will soon find out what the prevalence is here.
