I havent listened to the PMs speech yet because I couldn't take the stress, embarassment, and rage that he is in charge. Below is a twitter thread with a more measured take than what I have heard from commentators and the BBC. The message is clearly a mismanaged disaster, but indefinite lockdown is also impossible.
