• Im sick of getting lost and getting my phone out of my pocket is less than ideal. All I want is a device I can attach to my stem/bar and see the route in front of me, voice commands might be nice too but not essential.

I don't care about monitoring my heart rate or my speed or monitoring anything else for that matter, I can just leave my phone in my pocket with strava on to record the route. I literally just want to see the route navigation.

Am I better off just getting an old android with good battery life and installing RWGPS? Or is there an older/cheaper/basic device that I could get? Don't really want to spend much more than about 50 quid.

  • Personally I'd avoid an old phone due to issues like battery life and touchscreens that are annoying in the rain.

Main thing to consdier is whether you want something simple that gives you a line to follow like this:

    or a proper map

If you're only following pre-set routes then the first is cheaper and simpler but you need to get your phone out when you're lost. The second is more flexible but obviously comes at a price.
