Your lawn looks pretty good to me in the first place, mine looks like a war zone because I’m obsessed with digging up dandelions.
My peas tendrils are on their way and I’m winning the friendly peony pissing contest with next door. Rock and roll.

Resolva's lawn-safe weedkiller is your friend. Works unbelievably well. Grass doesn't even notice it; dandelions are totally gone in days.

Is the flag pole staying?

Heres a bit of a before and after shot from when we first moved in a few years ago.
Took out 4 trees and roots and can't bring myself to also get rid of the pine but it's gotten really big.
The red brick was completely covered so excavating it was fun to reveal it running the
the whole left side of the garden.

Looks like a cypress of some kind. I'd be inclined to get rid as it will end up being far too big.

It's too big already tbh but its a bird/wildlife magnet and can't bring myself to.
Plus the shade is good for young kids. -

Maybe plant something else now so if you need to take it down in a couple of years, you have something coming up to replace.

Is the flag pole staying?
Yes if I can accommodate the man cave next to it. I have several ideas for the flag pole, much weathered and connected to a concrete post

I've got one too, they're bloody great. I usually cut my grass as normal, scarify and then cut it again. It looks dreadful for a couple of days but the magic happens and it chirps up nicely.

no way, keep it, it's awesome!

Americans are weirdly obsessed with lawns and lawncare.

We love it. Just hoping it doesn't fall on our conservatory in one of the storms du jour.
I have a feeling if we get new neighbours they might not appreciate the amount of crap it drops in their garden. -

Yeah I’m thinking the same. I’ve already taken up most of the lawn. Why not start a fresh.
I’ve been saying to my wife I’m tempted to dig up the lawn and reseed every other year. I’m wanting a football/tennis court lawn

Yeah it looks good from 20 feet away. But I want it to look amazing from 3 feet

Not a bad article. I don’t use weed killers or weed and feed on my lawn. I do regularly reseed it though.
I’m only slightly obsessed with my lawn

A cautionary note on composting..
I emptied a 2 year compost bin and whilst turning over the compost in a raised bed came upon a whole egg. The smell of a 2 year old egg is quite something!

I'd be tempted to give that another pass.. And then turn on the sprinkler
