I have come to accept/like the transition. Especially with a chunky headset like that hope.
The tapered steel fork steerers some builders use look shit IMO

Point taken. I still love this bike and want one.
I think yours looks better with the flat crown.
Bikes like this are great. And I have paid that stupid £60 Eurostar bike fee almost enough times to make a custom travel bike worth it.

It is nuts.
He used Bear through axle dropouts for frame couplers which I like a lot. And it seems be working out.
