I rode from Ashburton to Clyde (via Arundel, Geraldine, Fairlie, Tekapo, Twizel, Omarama, Tarras). The first photo is at the top of the Lindis Pass. Spent two nights at free campsites (near Tekapo at Pattersons Ponds and at a DOC campsite just before Omarama). If you are thinking of using DOC managed campsites (many are free and require no booking) and/or freedom (wild) camping, then I recommend using this map to help you plan. Freedom camping is legal on most of the areas identified on the map as "public conservation land". The map allows you to highlight the areas where it is prohibited/restricted.
Thanks. The Vigorelli was surprisingly comfortable. Of course, the smooth NZ roads helped. Only wish was that I didn't have a fierce headwind for most of the trip.
