  • Musical giant, RIP... One of my biggest gig regrets is not going to see them at the Victoria Apollo in the early 80s when I had the opportunity, what a tour to see!! Sadly never made it to a show but a massive, massive fan...

  • the bbc used kraftwerk tunes over some of their tv programmes back in the 70's, i remember one kids tv drama about some gymnasts that had a well before techno, techno tune over the opening and finishing credits , it sounded amazing as i hadn't heard too much electronic music at that point in my life, i never knew what it was till i heard autobahn in the 2000's it was the 2nd part of the 1st track on the album, still sends a chill down my spine when i hear it

    rip

This surprised me. I'd figured you'd have seen them back in the day, given your background. I was lucky to see them a few times, including the Manchester Velodrome gig they did back in 2009 (although without Florian Schnieder obviously).

  • the bbc used kraftwerk tunes over some of their tv programmes back in the 70's,

There was a show called The Computer Programme I think, 1982 ish used Computer Word in the opening titles

  • i guess it worked both ways kraftwerk got some airplay and publicity and the beeb got some cutting edge theme tunes

in one of the comments in an obituary someone said kraftwerk appeared on tomorrows world before top of the pops or something along those lines

  • What a gig that was. Geraint Thomas doing laps to Tour de France.

  • 6 music will be playing Trans Europe Express in full at 12

  • I didn't go to the Computer World show which was probably the last time to catch them at the very height of their powers... I wasn't interested in seeing them after that, which was a mistake, obvs... The amount of times I paid good money to see Suicide when they were well past their sell-by date was ridiculous... Life, eh? What is it?

  • TY the rapper. Really sad news and no age.

  • RIP Mavic. Hope Cov-19 isn’t to blame for this one.

Just heard Saloman have just offloaded the marque to a Delaware asset stripping outfit.

Anyone wanna buy some NOS CXP14? #desperatemarketing

  • Really really gutted about Ty.

  • How the fuck did that happen?? Cycling is booming! They made some lovely rims and hubs, and their groupsets were pretty nice back in the day. Sad news!

  • They're not dead yet, just some weird shit going on.

  • Cycling is booming!

    It's not.

I have no idea what Mavic's problems were caused by, though.

  • Explained here.

Mavic are struggling because their core business; rims and pre-built wheels, is under threat from both carbon and cheaper, more agile Asian competitors.

  • You know a company is struggling when it gets passed on , and passed on again, then finally ends up with an assets company rather than a manufacturing company. Bad news, but if they made stuff people wanted they'd be ok, who's gonna do neutral service on the tdf now?

  • who's gonna do neutral service on the tdf now?

    AliExpress?

  • Or Wiggle, bag of Haribo whilst wheel gets changed.

  • who's gonna do neutral service on the tdf now?

    @adroit

  • Well, that’s one good gig I’ll miss!

  • Wha am I gonna rebrand my fake wheels as now doe?
