  • What device did you get? We have one but it is quite small and I have to remember to cut most recipe volumes by 1/2 or 2/3 to avoid making too much custard base.

  • I generally find that the simpler recipes with just milk and cream are more enjoyable than the fiddly custard based ones. I guess it's an effort/result balance that will be different for individuals though.

    Do not compute

    My mum had an ice cream machine. The best ice cream I have had was a vanilla cream custard with strawberries from my parents garden. The fruit were the ones that were too ripe when picked and were overblown with sugar.

  • I only make ice cream 3-4 times a year so I don't mind the effort of to be honest. The rest of the time we tend to make sorbets instead.
