Could someone please help me ID this?

It is 104mm BCD, four bolt.
I'd like to run it as a 1x crank on a Trek 990 from the 1996, assume I need a GXP BB in 68 or 73 flavour?

If it's GXP it'll most likely be a Truvative of some sort. You just need any GXP 68/73mm BB (that's just one, not a choice). It will come with spacers to take up the difference. e.g. alternatively I think someone makes wee adapters to run GXP cranks in Shimano style BBs.
