What device did you get? We have one but it is quite small and I have to remember to cut most recipe volumes by 1/2 or 2/3 to avoid making too much custard base.
I generally find that the simpler recipes with just milk and cream are more enjoyable than the fiddly custard based ones. I guess it's an effort/result balance that will be different for individuals though.
I just find the custard based ice creams too rich.
We are starting with basic vanilla as that is all we have ingredients for in the house.
Tomorrow I hit Sainsbury's and get extra cream and ingredients.
