Sounds like it's going into protection due to a short... maybe.
Check the earthing is good, so open plug and check good contact. The take top of case off and check that too.
While it's off see if there is any obvious visible damage to components on circuit board.
Obviously, unplug it before doing that.
Be way quicker than trying to get it repaired. Plus repair will be more than it's worth.
