I think a lot of the newer chainsets look too beefy on steel tubes.
A lot of people share that opinion, and yes some of the latest chainsets look terrible, but going ST on a road bike in 2020... Any UltraTorque one would look fine IMHO, I do like the FC-7800 and FC-9000 for Shimano.
Speaking of groupsets, the Campa ones have aged better than the Shimano, visually at least.
I was about to go hunting for a 8s Athena chainset and BB to finally complete my groupset, and then I thought "screw it, I'm swinging the MGOOF hammer at my Daccordi". Time for a change of groupset and wheels, I think.
Can I please have some connoisseur-grade MGOOF reccommendations?
I'm torn between Shimano and Campagnolo at this point. It's genuinely a tough one. Would carbon rims be OTT? Is that perhaps the point?
My first urge is to do this:
