  • I can't see my original post. Only all these replies from clicking on my email notifications links. Which image are you referring to?

As for donations, I'll accept anything. I have a nice frame I was advised to buy 2 years ago and hadn't got around to getting my friend to advise / link me to other parts to build it up and I'm so useless at that stuff, he was going to do it as a favour. But I got too used to using this bike and buying all these parts were expensive at the time for me, so I stopped. It will even help me, if you can list all the parts I need to buy or snipe / get donated, separately in a list. So, I can figure out the cost of getting this frame made in to a bike. Thanks

  • I agree with Phil, that would do more harm than good. Unfortunately it's pretty unlikely to turn up but worth keeping an eye on.
What frame have you got? There's plenty of parts and knowledge floating around here, I'm sure you can get something built that won't break the bank

  • Thanks for the long reply. I can't seem to see my original post. I've gone to the most recent page on this thread and my post isn't there. How do I view the original post and edit it? iPhones naturally save photos as HEIC. I can covert and reupload as JPEG. But you're saying only some of them haven't uploaded or all of them? I've tried to upload them again in this reply. But please advise how I can edit my original post and rey-load them. Or should I re post this?

Your post may be on the previous page--use the page navigation at the bottom. You can also click on your username to go to your profile. If you click on the number of comments you have there, you'll see all your posts.

Four of your pictures uploaded earlier, I just couldn't view them except for one. I was hoping for clearer pictures, but appreciate these may be all you've got. It's worth being aware that the upload facility is a little temperamental and you need to check if they're displayed; if not, you need to try several times until it works. Just keep clicking on 'Edit' and uploading them again. It'll work eventually. (I'm not suggesting that's a priority for you right now. We've all seen the aftermath of thefts many times.)

As for the location, yes that's the one. Although it was parked up slightly further in that image. There's an entrance to a building you can see to the side of the elevator. My bike was parked right there against the guardrail for pedestrians. It should be clear in my images that I was referring to the bars on the guardrail being bent. Not the lock. The lock, which you should be able to see in the photos I uploaded, was secure and untouched.

Thanks, I couldn't tell because I didn't see any of the images of the scene of the theft. Was your lock around the frame? If they went to the trouble of cutting the guardrail, they would not normally leave the lock there but remove it in the safety of their own workshop. Odd.

    Have you contacted Westfield itself?

    https://uk.westfield.com/stratfordcity/centre-info/contact-us

I'm not sure that's going to help, as strangely enough they don't seem to have any contact for security there (perhaps deliberately, who knows). They'll probably refer you back to the police, so it may be a futile call, but there is at least a chance you might get someone useful on the end of a phone.

  • Obviously without knowing what frame it might be difficult to find the correct parts but if anybody who wanted to help copied the below list and added what they could happily donate it would be a start.
Unfortunately I have recently sold/thrown a lot of parts that would be relevant to this build.

Assuming to replace what you had you'll need.

    Handlebars -
    Grips -
    Brake levers -
    Brake calipers -
    Headset -
    Frame -
    Forks -
    Tires -
    Wheelset -
    Cranks - Stronglight 144BCD (no chainring) - MA3K
Chainring - TA Specialites 45 tooth ring (though you might want larger..) - MA3K
    Bottom bracket -
    Pedals -
    Chain -
    Freewheel -
    Seatpost -
    Seat - Selle Italia turbo - MA3K

Then somebody to help nail it all together. Also happy to assist here.

  • ^ If the idea has legs we can take it to its own thread.

  • HEICs wouldn't load. I've just converted some files and edited the post. You can see now?

  • I need to dig out of storage. So should I come back to this thread when I do that or post elsewhere? It'll take me about two weeks to access it.

  • HEICs don't upload it seems. I've converted and edited the post. See again.

Westfield security useless. They just revert you back to police. I was assaulted there last year and they did nothing.

This is really useful thanks! I've replied to your other reply, regarding coming back to here or a separate thread post when I get the frame info. But this is a good start because I can figure out total cost / general budget. I guess the frame is the biggest cost right?

  • I forgot the bottom bracket. Updated my list.

  • If you don't know details of the frame, perhaps your mate does? If you could list specs like rear spacing, it would help with finding parts.

  • HEICs wouldn't load. I've just converted some files and edited the post. You can see now?

I can see the aftermath picture now. This looks to me as if they simply picked your lock. Two-minute job. :(

That the guardrail is bent may not have anything to do with this theft, unless you're absolutely sure it wasn't bent before.

  • No I can't be sure re the guardrail. As for picking the lock, I don't think they'd have put the lock back together though?

  • bottom bracket

    Thanks

  • Why not? They don't need it, and people often leave closed locks around where they park regularly, so it wouldn't attract any suspicion that way.

Obviously, I'm only speculating, but I'm just trying to piece together how it happened.

  • Top man, I'm not in London at the moment but if this is ongoing when lockdown is over I'm sure there's useful stuff in my parts bin

  • Yeah let us know so we can advise on parts compatibility, maybe start a thread in Current Projects

I don't know how common they are, maybe worth investigating?

  • Mate Franco’s Curve Belgie stolen from Great Ormond St hospital.

Curve Belgie fork spotted on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FULL-CARBON-CURVE-THRU-AXEL-VERY-GOOD-CONDITION-700c-DISC-FORKS/124174800982

    Near Enfield. I'd investigate.

Edit: soz @yokes, didn't see your comment.

  • No worries, good spot! Particularly suspicious that they haven't put the brand/model in the title so it doesn't come up in search

  • Several frames and whole groupsets in previous sold items too with equally shitty listings

  • Look at sold items, seller has same bed sheet as the (different) seller of the Curve wheels on previous page.
