953 is a very modern stainless steel (AFAIK), so it's certainly not vintage. Are you sure it's 953?

Planet x did buy the name a few years ago and the old shop in putney was rebranded.
The frames were mainly made in far east but some of the more exotic tubeset were I believe made by Reilly.
If it is a 953 you could check with him.Edit there definately was holdsworth strada made by mark out 953 but was tigged construction.

I doubt planet X have had any fleur de lis lugged, 1" headtubed frames made under the name.
Edit: I stand corrected actually. You're right, reilly has built lugged frames recently under the name though I don't think a stainless one

953 was released in 2007
, which is why I'm unsure that this is 953. It looks like 953 lugged frames have been made, but only by boutique builders, so it seems unlikely that Planet X/Holdsworth made one. -

I find it a very strange mixed up frame.
Why on earth build an old school lugged frame, with a 1” headtube, with the High end tubeset? -

It’s for sale i DK, i only know what the seller says.
I can’t tell if it’s really 953. -

How much do they want for it?
-
• #9
Way, way to much.
Around 580£ -

If it is 953..its fair price. You couldnt get the tubes for that.
Fancy lugs and polished too. -

I find it a very strange mixed up frame.
Isn’t that what so many custom built frames are like tho? Hence being custom. People want odd combinations of things, as their needs are too obscure for something OTP (to put it kindly).

Saw this on the classifieds here on DK. Tempted. Think the price is fair

Could/would anyone buy that and send it across for me?
Thanks. -

953 is amazing, but yes the branding raises questions. I wrote to the seller for more info, will report back.

Hi Laurent, I am also aware of the 953 tig welded frames launched by Planet X a couple of years ago. They are completely sold out as new frames. My frame is a first generation built with lugs.
@lowbrows if you have any questions I'd happily relay.

Hi Laurent, don't mind the Holdsworth badge on the crown tube. I bought the frame - with this badge attached, not riveted - a couple of years ago. That's all I can tell about the frame and was told when I bought it. No matter what, the riding comfort is truly unique, and maybe you should rather pay attention to the Reynolds 953 sticker on this frame? BR Soren
I can’t really find much info on the old interweb, so here goes.....
A Holdsworth in Reynolds 953, with Fleur des lys lugs.
When was this made?
