  • It’s a few hundred grams

  • Ti frames are like noodles because copy not redesign for ti

It’s also not new, I brought it for a test from a friend, sold to a friend who sold it to the current seller

  • Has anyone changed their M handle bars to the S style or a bullhorn Style without changing the M stem to an S stem?

I would like to change my M handlebars but I don't really want the extra cost of adding a S stem for a further reach. I suppose I could get an extender as an alternative (https://www.rideabikes.com/product/bicycle/city/brompton/components---accessories/sf5-extendable-stem), but a bit unsightly.

  • Yes but it’s very low and short.

Why do you want to change? What are you looking to be different?

  • I find the reach isn't far away enough. I prefer a slightly more road bike position. I understand I won't be able to get the exact same position, but even just a slight improvement would be great.

  • I have one on my Bromi, been happy with it. It could be bigger but then would be heavier and more obtrusive. It's a small rack etc...

  • So using your m stem is a bad idea...

Do you need the height of m type?

  • Potentially, Ideally I would change the stem to an S stem and add the bars I want. 1. I won't be able to get the colour I want in the stem and 2. I don't want to spend the extra haha.

    Cheapskate at heart.

  • What colour stem?

  • Raw Black Lacquer .

  • Haha no way.

Maybe you you should send me a message...

  • Haha. I know. Its not a major thing at the moment. I'm just researching. Other things I wish to do first. Thank you for your help though. Really appreciate it.

  • I changed my M-type bars for Thorn ones from sjs and my H-type bars to flat titanium probably also from sjs although I can’t be sure about that. Should be pictures of both earlier in this thread.

  • H type with flat bars. Lower (a lot) and a little closer to me. Perfect for me anyway, my favourite. I find the s-type bars (green one in background below) a touch too narrow for comfort.

  • M type with Thorn bars in the foreground. Lower and wider. Superb.

  • There’s a guy down my ends that I’ve seen a couple times with what must be the M type stem and carbon flat bars. Front end is real low and he’s an absolute machine. He sat on my wheel on a commute home one evening for about 5km while I tried my hardest to pull away on a road bike but couldn’t shake him. He shouted thanks for the pull when I turned off down my road at the end.

  • What colour bike?

  • What's the location of your pics?
    It looks really nice.

  • Black with a red stem maybe.

  • I'm gonna swap my regular M bars to the revised 'compact' ones and report back, should be simillar to the ride height of the S type without the need of a stem swap.

  • The cream H-type with flat bars is at Upton Country Park, Dorset. My daily exercise ride.

The raw lacquer M-type and green S-type are on the old station platform at
Sandford on the Strawberry Line cycle route between Cheddar and Yatton, which is a lovely place to stop. There’s a little cafe in the old station buildings and the volunteers there are friendly and knowledgeable.

  • Be aware your going to have a short cockpit! The old m stem is short and straight

  • Couldn’t say, it was at least a year ago maybe more

  • Be aware your going to have a short cockpit!

He gets that all the time... 🐛

My M6R is quite a bit lower and wider with the carbon risers I got given on here but it feels great, the old bars were a bit sit up and beg...
