  • How does the A319 compare to an open pro; are they good?

  • Open pro = road, 319 slightly touring / all bike use.

Shame the new open pro isn’t just a wider, tubeless, disc too version of the old one.

  • A119, 319 and 719 are 19mm internally compared to Open Pro which is 14-15mm???

Being a large rider I like running 28c on wide rims. A319 suits my budget and came in silver finish.

  • They last forever too, so many km on my old touring set

  • And does an A319 ride nicely?

  • I think so, but no long term experience yet.

It builds up lovely tho. Both wheels I just build came out pretty true and round before even going into a wheel building stand.

The black wheelset on the picture I posted is A 719 rims which have been amazing, but pretty heavy. I won my first (and only) road race on them :) they have probably given me 20.000km of riding. I have also had A 119 wheelset which have been lovely as well, but felt less nice building them.
I have also had XM 319 rims which is the disc equivalent of A 319 and they have been amazing as well. Probably put 30-40.000km on them before selling them on and they are still riding I believe.

So in other words I have no doubt A 319 will be great. And for the price there is just no contest.

  • Thanks for the advice on these.

  • I currently run A719 with 40mm tyres and they suit me well. Am going to buy a wheel set with a319 I think. I think I read that the only difference between the two is the way they are joined once formed into a circle.

  • Yeah A719 is welded and sanded down.

    A319 is 595g
    A719 is 565g

    They are cheap on cnc-bikes

  • I've had a couple of sets of wheels built with A719s, if I hadn't gone tubeless on my bike I'd still be using them, excellent rims.

  • Apparently you can run a319s tubeless

  • In that case 719s should be able to run tubeless, all mavics tubeless rims are designated UST, not the A series though, and I like my teeth, so I'll stick with proper tubeless rims rather than ghetto tubeless.

  • Hot fucking damn

    My first red bike

  • It's definitely red.

  • By coincidence I just found this picture in my Dropbox that I saved years ago.
    Perfect timing

  • hurry up and get it built

  • It might have to wait for Sunday/Monday.
Tonight I am fixing a roof rack so I can bring my mtb for the weekend at our cabin.

  • Fanks. IT will be balanced nicely by some Goldy bits and Canis gumwalls

  • crying out for blue tyres so you can leave big blue 1980's skid lines down the street

  • Art is knowing when to stop

  • art is in the eye of the beholder or something

  • Had a late night, but managed to complete the roof rack so I can bring bikes on family visits
