I can see the aftermath picture now. This looks to me as if they simply picked your lock. Two-minute job. :(

That the guardrail is bent may not have anything to do with this theft, unless you're absolutely sure it wasn't bent before.

No I can't be sure re the guardrail. As for picking the lock, I don't think they'd have put the lock back together though?

Why not? They don't need it, and people often leave closed locks around where they park regularly, so it wouldn't attract any suspicion that way.

Obviously, I'm only speculating, but I'm just trying to piece together how it happened.
