  • There's some adidas ones that a mate swears by. bit spendy tho.

Was using over ears but got too hot so just using buds now.

  • Just get some Anker Bluetooth from amazon in whatever style you prefer, plenty waterproof enough to wear in the shower, will cope with trainer sweat

  • I like my Trekz Aeropex. Previously had a Titanium.

Works on the road in the rain, works equally well covered in sweat.
Better sound quality would be nice, but with the turbo noise and rasping breaths, it hasn't really mattered.

  • +1 to this. I use the first pair, and have done for over a year. They're still doing great

  • I have the same one, but recently right side suddenly become really quiet . Have you encountered the same in the past?

  • Cheap QCY ipx rated Bluetooth number.

  • Does anyone else who has used both TR and Zwift find that TR is much quicker and more reliable when it comes to finding Bluetooth connections to your devices in comparison to Zwift?

I've just ordered an ANT+ dongle to see if that improves things for Zwift but finding it to be a PITA to spend 15 minutes trying to get everything connected before a ride vs TR does it in seconds

  • Not really, no. I've been chopping and changing with both apps to find the best setup.

I settled on TR using ANT+ with an extension lead USB hanging near the bike away from the laptop (I also changed all my wifi to 5GHz and moved the 2Ghz to a channel away from ANT+). Then Zwift on my phone is setup to pickup the Bluetooth from the Quarq. So TR is the boss and Zwift picks up the output.

I tried doing this the other way with TR using BT and I tried using Zwift and TR running on the laptop at the same time but they both seemed more problematic than what I just wrote above.

Oh, I have Location and Bluetooth turned off all the time on my phone so I have to enable both before connecting the phone to Zwift via Bluetooth. If you're forgetting steps like this it won't pair.

  • I've found Zwift to be more of a pain in the arse to connect to than many other training apps. Also the most likely to lose connection during a ride

  • Dusted off the turbo for the first time in a couple years at the start of lockdown. I keep getting some serious scrote numbing every time which never happened when I was using it regularly a couple years ago. I don’t get any issues on the same bike on the road, never have any issues on that front usually. Any tips on how to solve it without changing the bike’s setup (to avoid getting problems on the road)

  • Move around a bit more?
    Pad on shorts?

  • Chamois cream, regular standing up, decent fan to reduce sweating, two aspirin and call your doctor if pain persists.

  • I try to move around bit, including being quite upright during recovery intervals so that my weight is coming down on my sit bones. I have it setup outside in the shade so I don't get too hot and have a fan there if I do. Always wear my regular, comfy bib shorts with a pad. I've got some chamois cream somewhere so I'll give that a go with some standing too. Ta

  • I found one pair of shorts, which I thought comfy on a ride were fucking annoying on the turbo.

  • If it makes you feel better I spent maybe 8-9hrs on the turbo on the weekend and my arse is aching. This is the same bike I raced RATN, TPR, TCR and TransIberica on last year. Turbo is evil.

  • That makes me feel sorry for you, nothing else

  • He was spending some of that time with some seriously fun people.

  • It has now been accepted by airline carrier! But is still in Chicago. You’re probably holding one in your hands at this point I imagine?

  • Good to hear it’s finally moving.

I emailed the guys here, but no answer yet. I’m not fussed really, I use the ant+ key with no issues. It was just that a few mates were doing some rides on Fulgaz and I wanted to join in. If only uses BT though.

  • Riser block?

  • He is saying goodbye to ant+ on Friday i heard ..

  • I’m using one, yes. Tried it without it once, no better

  • Fake news.

  • Slight tangent, any recommendations for an exercise bike £250-300 tops?

My partner is missing spin classes and has no interest in getting a bike and attaching to my turbo. She prefers the zero faff of a standalone exercise bike.
