Lock Down Dream Bike Top5

If you’re like me you’ve been browsing eBay a lot recently looking for bikes of your youth at bargain prices. This may have been done before but here’s a top 5 of bikes I’d buy based on serious lust as a younger man.

1. Steve Peat era orange patriot dh bike- absolutely no use to me but looks as good as it did 20 (?) years ago in mbuk
   
2. Cadel era Cannondale Volvo hardtail- got to be in the Volvo blue. Slightly more use but snappy and likely to have some issues
   
3. From when I was a track sprinter I coveted the Bauge and co look bikes. Far to expensive for me but still love these
   
4. Cipollini specialised from acqua sapone days. Love that kit. My mate annoyingly had 2 of these frames he commuted on. Great for circuit races I imagine but a bit harsh for daily use
   
5. Boonen era specialised with zipps. Perfect for big ringing some Peak District cobbles!
   
   

Of these I think I’d only actually buy the last two but you never know

Not that exact one I agree but zipps were my dream wheels as a skint trainee teacher

I pass a guy on a early dual suss raven in the morning. One of the ugliest bikes ever.

Although I'd potentially swap an Alpine Stars Ti-Mega, a Marin Team Titanium, or an M2 Stumpjumper in there.

I've number those 1,2,3,4 and 5, no idea why the forum software has then turned them all to being 1.

The forum thinks you made five separate lists. Trying putting a closing bracket behind the numbers, instead of a period.

The nearest shop to me Sett Valley Cycles has a pace like that hanging on the wall. I remember years ago I met my new ‘uncle’ for a boring pub lunch, but it turned out he’d ridden there on a p7 with pace rc45 (I think) forks. What a guy!

You would have loved OWMTBC, most of those featured and seeing Tim Davies making it count on a Ti-Mega with a flat 150mm was tidy

Love the Kili Ultra Ti

I own one of the bikes on my Top 5, would love to add the Pace to the Attitude, but both would likely be static display rather than ridden (my Klein is on display at Business as Usual in Bristol).

Maybe you should ring sett valley and make the guy an offer!
I’d ride all the ones on my list I think. Probably not ride the dale much but it’d be sweet for riding with the kids

I rode the Klein on SDW, when I was very fresh to (returning to) off-road. I bought the Scalpel SE soon afterward.

However, with a lot more skill under my belt now I think I’d enjoy the Klein more.

I’d love an RC100, but have an RC295 on order and finite storage space.

I saw the Klein when starting one of Will’s Audax’s from there.

I need to drop my Bridgestone down there as well, but the current situation makes that tricky.

I missed out on that exact Saracen Kili Ultra Ti on retrobike a good few years back. Was really pissed off to see the guy who bought it strip it down and sell the parts separately.
Those Ti forks are rare as, I've only seen two sets.
I've wanted one since 1994, I do keep a look out but very few decent ones come along.
