It's one of these https://www.xtracycle.com/free-radical-leap-conversion-kit/
For child carrying duties, but it was heavy and huge and largely pointless...

Any recommendations for a single speed freehub cog that isn't surly?

Think halo do one

Almost ready to start building these two frames up. Plan for one to be a 3x9 and the other a 1x10 just due to the parts I currently have and recent splurge on purchased kit during lockdown. The gold/copper frame is an old Marin Pine Mountain powder coated in my old work before it closed down.

Is it just me or are vintage mountainbikes becoming the new vintage racebikes? I see them appear in wanted ads more and more (and prizes raise and raise... 😕)

One of the bikes I'm currently working on. Don't mind the front v brake, I couldn't find a fitting cable hanger/noodle stem in 1 1/4 and I want to ride it...

I'm new to the single speed thing, but the Halo fat foot cog I bought had teeth too fat for the 8 speed chain I used.
I thought the name was just about the base! Surly wide base cog was fine.

Anyone flogging any of the following.. will need to be posted (and budget) for a rat build.
Suspension forks. Non-tapered steerer.. nothing too lairy.
27.2mm seatpost
Square taper crankset.
Canti brakes (rear) - disk brake front.
Stem
Bars
26” wheels
Saddle
Mechs-shifters etc.I’ve no real direction at the moment.. just a frame. Hoping I can find a few bits and take it from there.

Great condition paintwork Wim

Aye and folk are asking for stupid prices for them too, when about 2 years ago you could have given them away.

Thanks, @SideshowBob
Paintwork is really good, indeed. But seller didn't tell me about the "loose" bottle cage boss (and there's a bolt stuck in it) so can't put cages on it. Good thing back in the nineties Camelbak were hot. 😁

I know. And the worse thing: they force others to sell for crazy prices too...

It's fucking irritating. Have you seen how much simple stuff like stems go for now? People used to dump that shit. Now a basic Syncros stem goes for nearly 3 figures.

There was a NOS Tioga disk on eBay recently... for 2500 €. That's more than twice the price it costed back in the nineties.

Are the tyres worth the price?
Yes. Best 26" you can buy for your retro MTB frame.
Lovely. Nice and clean.
