In that location I would use some good quality double sided tape like gorilla and mount it more under the tube without the tie wrap if you want the clean look.

Bit late reply i realise, but I did this, on balance pretty pleased with end result, depends how much bodging you're up for.
Drilled hole in the cable guide, then bigger hole to seat a cable ferrule, then clear sprayed. Had some ferrules which had a solid end so I could file down to smaller diameter to fit in the small hole. Found that because i just used hand held drill and normal drill bit that ferrule didn't quite seat right so ended up using a supporting cable tie to tuck it nicely.
Frame is 95 rockhopper.
Anyone had a similar issue and solved it with a better looking solution?
