Nah I'm just waiting until I have the rest of the bike. Travelling to the wrong side of the river is the furthest I have to go for components, I'll save that for last. Just been furloughed as well, so will have some time to sort it out soon

What 120-140 mm 27.5 fork do I want from CRC right now? I know very little about them. General forest pootling, nothing epic. Lockout lever would be nice but not a deal breaker. Budget friendly please.

The Rockshox Recon Gold they have should be fine, and easy to service. They seem to have both 100mm and 110mm spaced ones available

Great, thanks.

I am, however, able to tell the difference between a bike park and not
a bike park - typically one has a cafe. There's certainly no fooling you.

It is super gnar.

I'll do it and let you know what it's like

Headed East instead. Surprisingly damp in places but otherwise very enjoyable.

I’m looking to get back into mtb. Did a lot of downhill racing in my youth, but have spent the last ten years shaving my legs. After an aggressive 27.5 hardtail as rides will be short and fun (sadly no time for long all day explorations).
Slightly out of the loop on mtb these days, and don’t want to break the bank (much as I’d love a Stanton or Santa Cruz). Any views on the Nukeproof Scout 275? Seems to have great reviews and pretty good value. I think that or a Cotic bfe seem to be my front runners. Neither are particularly easy on the eye, but the geometry looks a lot of fun compared with the bikes I used to ride!

Orange Crush and Marin San Quentin 3 are another couple. I’ve recently bought the Marin for my nephew

Orange Crush and Marin San Quentin 3
San Quentin 3 was my first choice but ended up going with the Crush as it was cheaper and I couldn't find anywhere that has the San Quentin in stock, also they're quite expensive.
There are plenty of Cotics amongst these pages, I've got one and would recommend.

Cool thanks all, very helpful. Really can’t wait to get back out into the woods! Though I will perhaps put a pin in the rad until the pandemic is over...

I have pike and reba. No recons here.

Have a look at NS bikes Eccentric Evo or Octane One Prone. Great frames for money but you'd have to self-build
-
• #16270
Do they make a difference?

The On One Scandal/Big Dog with GX Eagle and a 35 Gold is £1000 at the moment. It's 29" rather than 27.5", but my Big Dog clears a nominal 27.5×2.8" (with a different fork), although it does lower your BB a little
Edit: or frame + a couple of bits is £150 which is pretty absurd

Pikes are a bit stiffer and have better rebound. But reba is plenty enough for general riding for anything we have around London. Saying that if my contract gets renewed beyond June I'd be getting the new Sid 35.

What are you running on your NS Soda?
-
• #16274
Soda lol.
Pikes right now, but they are the 29+ version and have AC a bit longer than standard. Wil switch to Rebas as soon as I get my oil for service.

I thought you were all about the near fat bike plushness?
Progress being made slowly with 2 small helpers but we have 2 berms and 3 jumps clear now
